And let's be honest, most of the people boasting with their skill level here would most likely not find a solution to it if they got the code handed to them.
I really believe Blizzard is honest with this one, and I do believe the problem is that the backpack is the stepping stone for any currency in this game, as everything is saved in it (and shown in the currency tab). So making changes to it, changes that is NOT needed at all, would change everything and the chance for it to break would be too high for the risk.
Just image this:
"Sorry guys, we have to turn of world server because we tried to change the backpack from a 16-slot to 30-slot, but all currency etc got deleted in the progress. So we have to restart the whole thing, and it would take a day or two to get everything up running again."
Just try to imagine all the complaining that would cause. Would you guys really believe they would risk that for something that trivial.
Just let them do their job, and if you got a problem with it, send them an e-mail with suggestions, or fuck it, turn in an application for a job as coder for them, according to some of the posts here you guys are Godlike coders anyways, so shouldn't be a problem to get the job. And Blizzard is just a money sucking company, so the pay could be rather decent, right?
