Flash player freezing pc

Greetings,

I've had this issue with flash player content, where I would be watching a stream or youtube video and everything will just freeze up.

When the freeze happens, everything slows to a crawl over a period of 2 seconds, the mouse jitters when it moves, sound jitters and then it just freezes. I've tried watching CPU usage as I watch videos to try and catch it when it happens. But the freezing is so inconsistant and random I have yet to capture a freeze with task manager up.

Inside Event Viewer, it only says it was an unexpected shut down and brings me to this:

This only happens in Firefox, I have used Chrome for a few months without this issue but I really dislike Chrome and would prefer Firefox. Everytime its happened I have had WoW running as well, but that could be a coincodence as I commonly watch streams/videos while playing WoW. Things I have tried:

- Disabling Hardware Acceleration
- Reinstalling Flash player
- Reinstalling Firefox
- Googling my issue but turning up either unrelated issues or unsolved issues

Short of reinstalling Windows (the perfect excuse to warrent buying a 500GB ssd!), does anyone have any ideas i can test out?

Make sure your video drivers are up to date. You may also want to look at your motherboard's driver list and make sure those are up to date as well (chipset, BIOS, ect.).

GPU drivers are up to date, I had considered trying to update motherboard drivers as well but this freeze only happens in Firefox, not in Chrome. If it were related to the BIOS/chip set drivers, surely it would also freeze in Chrome?

can I just download the latest motherboard drivers and install them over the top of my current ones? Or do I have to reinstall windows first?

Yeah you can install them over the old ones. Do note that drivers can become corrupted so even your up to date ones may be giving you issues.

Out of curiousity, when you reinstalled Flash, did you do a clean install like so? --> https://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315 I've had issues with flash in the past that sound similar to yours (and a lovely time where it'd crash my graphics drivers causing screen to go black) that was solved by a clean install as for some reason old files were left that conflicted with new ones.

Test your RAM for errors. Chances are, thats it.

If it was hardware related, then surely I would of gotten these freezes in Chrome as well? I have used Chrome for months without the freezing at all.

I have done the super clean install of Flash Player, if I dont reply then it has probably worked!
