<Southern Star> is a semi-hardcore, 2/7M Highmaul and 8/10H Blackrock Foundry raiding guild on Tarren Mill – EU. We are specifically a late night guild, raiding 3 nights a week for 2.5 hours.

Currently, we are looking to recruit all manner of DPS for our raiding team!

Who are we?
"Southern Star Gaming" is our overarching name for the community, which spans across multiple games like Heroes of the Storm, Hearthstone, StarCraft II, and many more! We all play these games together between our time on World of Warcraft... so there’s always plenty to do if you are part of our team!
The majority of players in the team have played World of Warcraft, and have raided together for many years. <Southern Star> is the largest part of our community project. We are a mixture of players of different backgrounds; some have raided hardcore, earning top 100 kills and others take it more casually, but still have what it takes to be a skilled raider. At the heart of our guild we are just a bunch of good friends who all enjoy each others company both inside and outside of raids! We have a strong community, and solid social aspects.

How did this all start?
"Well, for me personally it started all the way back in Cataclysm with a guild called <So What> on Dunemaul EU, that was the old home of many of our raiders. <So What> had been around since The Burning Crusade, and in Cataclysm it sadly fell apart. We felt that just before WoD released, we had unfinished business within this game which brought many of us back and out of our slumber! However, we realised from the beginning that raiding hardcore was not an option as many of our raiders had children and real life obligations which always came first. So in the end we felt the need to make a home for the players who could not keeping raiding as they once had. World of Warcraft is not a young game anymore, and the players within are also ageing, so with that in mind we created <Southern Star>, and with it "Southern Star Gaming".

What is our goal?
The goal is a simple one: to create one of the best gaming communities of players as possible, who all take part and enjoy the games we play. We're not all “flower power” though! We are tough competitors, and wish to go for the best possible rankings within our reach; however building a guild capable of raiding steadily for a long period of time is no easy feat. Having members within the guild who are active and want to contribute is important to us and for our survival as a guild and a community. We want all players to enjoy themselves and feel a real sense of progression in the process.

Recruitment
We are always recruiting skilled and dedicated players! We do not accept applicants for only bench spots either, and you will have a fair opportunity to show us what you are capable of. Our trial period usually lasts between two and four weeks, where we evaluate you based on your attitude, attendance, skill level, situational awareness, and cohesiveness with the guild as a whole. If we are happy with you during this time, you will be offered a full raiding place with us!

Raid Schedule
Monday: 22:30 – 01:00
Wednesday: 22:30 – 01:00
Thursday: 22:30 – 01:00

Loot System
We use a Loot Council to distribute loot. Factors that play into loot decisions include (but are not limited to): raid performance, attendance, previous loot received, and significance of upgrade.

We stick to the ruling: Main Spec > Minor Upgrade > Off-Spec. If multiple people select the same requirement, the council decides who the gear will benefit the most. In the case of tier tokens, we always prioritize 2-set bonus over 4-set bonus, as we believe (for example) twenty players with 2-set bonuses is a more effective setup than five players with 4-set bonuses.
