    How does immortality work?

    Hey
So if you would have this power you can't die, but can you still feel pain?
Does immortality come with self healing?

As scenario, what if i'd jump off a tall building smashing into the ground, i woulden't die but would i have broken every bone in the body or not?

It works as such that someone will bury you in the ground so you can never get out again, and you'd live forever. Trapped.

If you're talking about a super power, doesn't it kind of follow whatever rules you invent for it?

Sort of just up to the creator of the fiction what implications come with their version of immortality... since, you know, it's not a real defined thing.

There could be immortality to where you are injured and don't any better than a regular human, you just never die. So after a few car crashes and lost fights you'd be this lump of quivering flesh in the corner. Or if you lost your head, you'd be dead.

But if you lived forever you could wait around until medicine got good enough to heal you.

There are more kinds of immortality. It depends on which the actual story uses. Be able to brake your bones brings the question: what happens with chooped legs. If chopped legs is allowed would you still be alive if you're exploded to atoms. If you're still alive then what's the meaning of staying alive? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_izvAbhExY

You age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age, and you age.. and you age some more! Until at some point you become bonkers because all your friends and family die around you constantly, then commit suicide. Or you get killed before going bonkers.

    I guess.

    How does it work?

It doesn't exist, so it works any way you want to imagine it.

Pretty much all lore in fantasy (That I've read) states immortality to be ageless but not without the danger of diseases or physical harm (Death).

In an anime called Baccano, an immortal kid got his head blown off by a shotgun but his pieces and blood crawled back and reformed his head.

That depends what kind of immortality you mean, if you mean immortality like a power, just watch some comics, is easier to explain that way, if you want to go with the kind of immortality that we know in the world, is that you will never die of old age but you could still die in an accident or in any other form

I don't think that will ever happen, i'm pretty sure that sooner or later you will get used to have the people around you die and then you will die (in case you're only ageless, cause you have all the time in the universe, so sooner or later you will get in an accident that kills you)

Immortal and that's it - IE you can still feel pain and you don't happen to have super strength or anything. You literally will just live no matter what. That's not to say you can't train and become stronger. Technically if you were able to push yourself to muscle failure over hundreds of years of training you'd probably be extremly strong. Same with running ect.

Then there's omnipresent - Immortal and able to do anything you want.
Well Omnipresent is not do anything you want, is be where you want and whenever you want all the time, even in places that you don't want to be

It varies depending on which kind of immortality. In Tolkien works, the Elves are immortal, but by that, it only means they do not fear death from aging; they still have to worry about disease, physical wounds, and depression. In Baccanno (as mentioned earlier), Immortality prevents you from dying through physical means, as the only way to kill Immortal people made from Alchemy is via another immortal killing them in some specific way. It really varies greatly, so there isn't a single set rule about it.

In most fantasy lore immortality doesn't mean you can't be killed, it just means you won't die unless someone kills you.

Immortal means you will not die from growing old. Most fantasy lore I've seen usually has the person age until adulthood and then stop aging or they stop aging at whatever age they became immortal at. Invincible on the other hand means you cannot be killed by disease or physical harm but (I think) you can die from aging.

Possibly the same reason Rogue couldn't control her mutant powers (unless they changed that).

Think it went something like this.

You're thinking of omnipotent. Omnipresent means you exist simultaneously everywhere.
