    Gear choices (secondary stats)

I have been referring to skullflowers BiS guide whenever possible, but given my current gear options, i am sitting at a crossroads as my guild progresses into mythic and plate gear starts to drop.

    here is my armory link

My question is that ive recently gotten the mythic cloak off of flamebender with crit/haste. is the increase in strength greater than the mythic twin ogron cloak with mastery multi? going from stats 1/2 to 3/4http://us.battle.net/wow/en/item/113830/raid-mythic

i also got the belt off of darmac last night http://us.battle.net/wow/en/item/113950/raid-mythic. i am upgrading from the heroic version with a socket that has a 50MS gem in it.

currently i am using my 4 piece with my gloves as the offset piece because i rolled mythic WF hanz gloves last week. ideally i want to use the shoulders off of BH but i havent gotten lucky from a cache yet..... are these 2 pieces a definite upgrade? i know strength has a higher stat weight so im inclined to say yes, i just want to see what people think about it.

everyone will probably just say see which sims higher, but i dont rely too much on sims atm because quite frankly, my guild is in progression mode so not everything is ideal as we learn/master boss mechanics.

For specific talents / playstyles, your example of not relying on Sims may hold true, but for DPS gains based on small changes in stats, you'll need to Simcraft your character on 1 / 2 /3 target fights, and Add-fights to get an idea of what you'd lose/gain with particular changes based on your specific character.

It's not a clear-cut answer somebody can give you, and it will depend what Mythic Encounters your guild is progressing on, and what parts of those fights are a problem.

As an example, a certain gear-change may be an overall DPS gain on Blast Furnace, but if your guild is struggling to down Primal Elementalists, then you need to gear more Multistrike since it's Single-Target your progression is impeded by.

Spoony has a blog post on his site about addons, one of what he uses is (this likely isn't 100% it's name so check the blog to see it) Statweights. It allows you to put in your stay weights to see the upgrade an item would give without needing to sim every item. It's not perfect, but will give you a fairly accurate depiction of 'should I replace X with Y'.

I'm not 100% sure on those items as replacements but using that addon or simming it will tell you the difference. Also Unholy doesn't have crazy stat changes where suddenly Haste is good at C number of targets or Crit suddenly flies up in value at X rating. Pretty much you 'should' stay gearing twords MS, and if and only if your raid is weak on aoe you would gear twords Mastery instead.

A quick way to do it would just be do the math on the weights - you can find that on Skullflower's stats section.

That's exactly what the addon Statweightscore does, as I mentioned in my above post
