Nature vs. nurture isn't a simple subject. There's never a single factor in raising a child. There are certainly more factors than just the parents. I'd still detach myself from this person and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law. But whether or not I blamed myself would depend entirely on what values I'd stressed with my child.

They crossed the line from child to psychopath, and while I wouldn't premedidate the beating, it is only a natural reaction when someone trys to kill you.
