Can someone clue me in on why the rating matters? Does the difference from PG-13 to R really affect the quality of the movie? Just wondering.

Oh yes, It really does matter.
Deadpool is a much more adult anti-hero than your average marvel character.

I actually don't know a lot about Deadpool. I'm not big into comics. Admittedly I never even heard of Guardians of the Galaxy before I saw the movie.

All I know is that Marvel has been kicking ass in the film department over the last decade and anything they stamp their name on I will buy a ticket for.

I think people are more interested in how well he will represent the character. which, personally I don't think is going to be hard to pull off.
