It's a bit of a long video but at the end there's an interview with Edward Snowden breaking it all down for you.

Government surveillance is about as an interesting subject as herpies in a medical checkup but a discussion that needs to be happening. It is very much possible, through various means and organizations, to have pictures of your junk being passed around where they'll silently judge the size and girth of it all in the name of security against terrorism.

The Patriot Act is also due for renewal June 1st with various clauses that's bound to cause a few eyebrows to raised if someone actually took the time to read through it.

Again, the video above puts it sufficiently and simply. What are your thoughts about this?

I honestly don't have much of an issue with surveillance, I have nothing to hide. If they succeed in stopping a lunatic before he kills a bunch of civilians then i'd gladly let them browse through my network traffic. Also, do you really think they would spend time looking at a million dicks? Sounds more like a story to get people to hate the US government.

That video also highlighted one of the causes for the worldwide dislike of the US and of its citizens.

"Americans don't give 2 shits for foreign espionnage" I didn't get the feeling he was saying that for comedy value, even when reading this forum I often get the feeling that Americans really don't care about anything outside their borders, only if it wants to come inside they start caring.
