    Brits and toast

So I gotta ask why Brits are so obsessed with toast. Anytime I talk to my relatives over in England or even my Grandmother who is from England I ask about their day and it's oh I had toast with (insert random thing) poured on top of it. Beans, cheese, other stuff. I mean is it really all you people eat is toast? Even on tv Brits eat nothing but toast with (insert random thing) on top of it.

Of course we don't only eat toast.

We also drink tea with it.

"What are you eating now Kyle?"

Oh just some tea and toast.

We also partake in scones and crumpets on occasion.

It seems that England alone would keep toaster manufacturers in business for life.

I've always liked tea, and I've recently started loving beans on toast. I suspect soon I'll develop a murderous hate of fox as well.

Everything tastes better on toast, fish and chips, Sunday roast, custard, or whatever.

It might also be that your gran can't be arsed to cook.

Perhaps it's not the toast you should be concerned about, but the combination of beans of toast becomes a magical breakfast/luch/dinner/dessert.

Toast by itself is okay, but plop a juicy poached egg, salt and pepper, perhaps a slice of bacon or two and you've got something something fit for a king.

I do love toast, but there's something much more magical about bacon.

    Bacon.......

Cheese on toast, beans on toast, scrambled eggs on toast, jam on toast, marmite on toast, peanut butter on toast, or just toast with butter takes all of 5 - 10 minutes to make, tastes amazing, is cheap AND filling. Whats not to love? Thrown in a cup of tea and you have a full meal (works for breakfast, elevensies, lunch, dinner, supper or just a snack - depending on number of slices consumed!) any Brit would be happy to eat

What kind of beans? Like pinto beans or Boston baked?

Just to clarify, under NO circumstances does toast go with a Full English, that's the job of a fried slice.

If we wanted to eat healthily we wouldn't be eating a full bloody English in the first place.

I mean.. we have toast with breakfast, and occasionally people will have egg on toast, cheese on toast or a toasted sandwich or beans on toast for lunch but I honestly can't think of the last time I - or anyone I know - had toast other than breakfast. I guess it's a super easy meal if you're not someone who likes to cook.

Bigger question, do you pronounce it "Scons" or "Scones"?

If you haven't tried cheesy beans on toast... then you haven't lived. Oh my days.

Baked beans are not sweet, if they are then I would question the quality.

•1 pound (2 to 2 1/4 cups) dry white beans such as Navy beans or Great Northern beans (can also use kidney beans)
    •1/3 cup molasses
    •1/3 cup brown sugar
    •3-4 Tbsp Dijon mustard
    •1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
    •3 cups hot water
•1/2 pound salt pork (can sub bacon), cut into 1/2-inch to 1-inch pieces
    •1 medium onion, (1 1/2 cups) chopped

These are Boston baked. I'm guessing British baked have none of the molasses or brown sugar. Man, I could go for some Boston baked beans right now.

Boston baked probably started out as British baked.

I can see why the idea of beans on toast disgusts them then, sounds horrific.
