Does it make me too much of a noob to like playing Raynor? I havent tried any other heroes yet, besides Raynor and Valla. I got Valla and bought Raynor, but is there maybe another ranged assassin I would be looking at?

have been playing for eight years and starting to think that i will never truly quit
Nah, just because Raynor and Valla are entry-level doesn't detract from their playability. Raynor has a strong build based on his Q which excels at locking down and slaughtering single targets, while being more durable that other assassins due to his E passive. Valla is very, VERY strong and puts out a shitload of damage while having the second-best escape available to an assassin (after Zera's Blink)
Incidentally, Valla and Raynor are the only two assassins I play seriously (I'm a tank/supp main) and I've been playing a while.

No, no you're not.
Raynor is a pretty solid hero with a really annoying passive if you don't have a stun / dont hit with your stun.
that mixed with his strong Q lockdown makes him a very valuable hero to your team.
I like my coffe like my mages.
Raynor also has the best Bribe in the game (cheaper than everyone else and the only one that allows you to bribe all three melee knights for the quickest hard-camp cap possible) which is VERY viable in a double-supp meta with his Q build - you don't need Seasoned Marksman and you can forgo Give Me More to reap the tasty, tasty benefits of Raynors Recruitment.

I recommend checking everyone out at least once. Nothing wrong with liking Raynor, though, I prefer him over Valla and Nova myself.
Now you see it. Now you don't.
But was where Dalaran?
Trash tier
You can't be a noob for liking to play a specific hero. That being said, Raynor is still the worst Assassin in the game atm together with Thrall.
Raynor is cool, like him if you want to... I think all terran heroes are cool =)
Gimme a year. LOL
But I actually am starting to see the potential of Raynor. Right now, if I play well I can push a lane basically solo and help capturing objectives, too. I might be playing with people who are even bigger noobs than I, but I am performing well and I am winning about 50-60% of the matches, but then again, maybe the opponents are even bigger noobs. LOL

Tychus > Raynor.

Nova actually gets used in competetive from time to time since she got Rewind back, unlike Raynor. Even with how much I hate Nova I'd say at this point she's better than Raynor.
I was winning a fair bit too as Raynor when I just started, but the more you play the more you realize how shit he is, which is sad because I like Raynor as a character. Also, that was before the patch which nerfed his AA hard.

This is the problem I always see with people who play Raynor.
They try to solo push afk in lane all game, ignore map objectives, and don't recognize that other specialists (Azmodan, Zagara, Sylvannas, etc) should be solo pushing - not Raynor.
Raynor is not a very good hero, but if you're solo pushing, he's absolutely abysmal.
Raynor is actually pretty high skillcap in the way of how little you have to really work with, if that makes any sense.
What I mean is like this: his Q is his only "escape" and burst, which knocks an enemy back at the same time, and it's very easy to screw it up and knock someone into safety. His W is a buff, his E is a passive/talented active heal. You have to rely on your auto-attacks, unless you're a Q build and honestly the Q build is pretty brutally unforgiving.
Raynor is a noob-friendly yet high skillcap hero, IMO. Valla is the real beginner ranged assassin in this game as her abilities are all very straightforward, simple to grasp and with clear uses.
My advice: spec heavily into Q. You can be devastating in teamfights with it.
Assassins are fairly balanced, there's not really a big standout like Chen for Warriors. Jaina was fairly poor but is much better post-patch.
She's certainly a candidate, even in her case she has some strong tricks up her sleeve though.
