The Tanaan Jungle Outdoor content thread.

This thread is not for discussing anything but outdoor content within Tanaan Jungle. No dungeon, taid, pvp talk or anything else but Tanaan as a zone.

How done do you guys think the zone is? Ive seen a few rares, but not many, and they had crap items like apexis crystals and primal spirits. No dailys exist yet(that I could find). Seems to be a world boss, but he has no moved and drops no loot yet. Not many treasures either. D you think the zone is still in the early stages of content creation, or are they exaggerating about what will be in the zone. I know 6.2 is still at least 2 months away, but im worried we will have another 6.1 with no significant ourdoor content(some of my favorite stuff to do).

The above is only to get the discussion started, but feel free to post Screenshots of stuff you find along with stories of new stuff. Also when new builds come out please post stuff in this thread. I want to talk about the outdoor content, but id like to keep it all into one thread so its easy to access.

THIS is the info that I'm waiting for too! ^_^

So far I'm liking that they're already having unique legendary pets you can battle there... that's SOMETHING outside the normal "zone with a single trainer" in that regard.

To me, that reassures me that there's going to be more to do in the zone than just a quest, treasures, then leave...

Are the rare creatures repeatable? Will they have fun events there? Also - what does the new daily quest hub entail (YAY to variety! :P).

No idea to any of those questions. On the ptr there's a short questline to unlock the zone, and that's it. Never seen a rare twice in my few hours, so no idea about that either. Treasures just have Garrison resources in them atm and they are just chests. No unique ones like Pandaria. I really hope they add a lot, because right now the zone feels so empty/devoid of content. Theres tons of mobs and areas, and the zone is really pretty but as for stuff to do in the zone its mostly nothing yet that I can see. Oh, there's a new apexis mission board for the zone -.-. I really hope that isn't what they meant when the mentioned daily stuff to do. I want actual dailys like 5.1 oe 5.2 style. I want dozens of repeatable rares with currency rewards and rarely gear and a pet/toy. I want a hundred or close treasures for a zone so big. None of that yet.

I assume this is the case as well. If nothing substantial is added by week 3 or 4 then we can panic.

Pretty much this, they said on twitter a new build is coming, and there's "catch up" content that's not revealed in the PTR right now.

The PTR is a mess right now anyway - people are getting DCed going from zone to zone because of "world server down". I managed to get the intro to the shipyard quests done, now I can't log onto any characters. This may be a long PTR...

The zone is very pretty if you like demon stuff. Some pockets of swamp and jungle that look nice too. Going to go take some screenshots if I can get on. Feel free to post some of yours as well if you have any nice ones.

So far it looks like TI, just with bigger map.

It will prolly end up with bunch of one-time chests plus rares.

B-but new battle pets, none of which have been better since Panda zone pets.

Man, it's going to be so fun to finally get the 'Explore Draenor' achievement.

    And Loremaster of Draenor? Alright!

I think Tanaan Jungle will be the Timeless isle of this expansion.

I did a quick run through for a video, and while it's definitely very vacant at the moment, it looks really interesting. Fel fire pits, blackened mountains, dark swaps, vibrant jungle, lots of variation in the zone. Spotted a few treasures too as I walked around, and plenty of very beautiful vistas.

I think there's some sort of arena/battle thing by the Saberon camp to the South-East. There is a vendor nearby that sells some sort of challenge banners?

Also, pretty sure Supreme Lord Kazzak will be a world boss. He's classed as a boss, and the area he's in is very arena-esque.

Why is zone variation a good thing? Vanilla zones were great, because they felt unified and cohesive. I'm tired of this idea that blizzard seems to think that we need a token "Snowy zone, desert zone, forest zone, jungle zone", etc. it makes the continent feel divided and fake. Pandaria and Northrend were great, because the zones felt connected and part of one continent, rather than a mishmash of themes. Same within zones. Tanaan would be great if it had more of that jungle look throughout 85% of the zone, like the beginning quest chain there, rather than broken into "here is the swamp part, here is the demon part, here is the jungle part".

Pretty darn disappointed that we've got to do even more damn Apexis dailies.. :I

The zone is probably little more than a faction quest hub. Think Isle of Thunder, just bigger. We don't need the quests for leveling. And WoD has been devoid of traditional "dailies", so I don't expect Tanaan to suddenly have a bunch of them, even though the Isle of Thunder was a daily quest bonanza.

Or it's like Timeless Isle, which hasn't been that exciting through the previous WoD zones.

I saw a couple of videos and heard a couple of reports, and so far the only plus seems to be that the zone is pretty, everything else is a minus.

There's an opening quest chain, a pretty small one. There's a new apexis daily (two?). There're a couple new battle pets. There're a couple of rares / treasures.

That seems to be it. No reps, nothing that wouldn't be in other zones, the number of things like rares or battle pets is pretty modest. You do the quest chain the first day, and then there's nothing terribly spectacular, you are living the same life you lived before 6.2, just with one more small-ish zone (and yes, it's smaller than other WoD zones, that's fine, it doesn't have to be bigger than them, but because there's just nothing new there - unlike, say, in Isle of Thunder - it's just a small addition). You can spend a couple evenings farming rares / treasures and getting battle pets, but that's it.

Maybe they'll add something, but so far it looks very meh.

I don't mean to start a fight with you but I am literally floored to see you, of all people, be so ... easily, I guess ... amused and encouraged by something like battle pets when talking about content.

@rda: you could have typed "They are not." and avoided the /10chars nonsense.

In my opinion WoD is not very similar to Timeless Isle. I personally really really liked how TI worked but I don't like WoD very much (apart from levelling). The differences make WoD worse in my eyes:
    1) "Rares" in WoD have a ~1-min spawntimer and always drop guaranteed loot. From "daily" rares, there was barely anything to farm (I recall one toy). I much more enjoyed TI rare system where the rares had only a chance to drop something and were on a longer spawn-timer (but not too long, like the mount rares now).
    2) TI was smaller which also meant that with clever use of items which were easily accessible, you could get from one rare to another in time unless you were on a crowded server. The place was crowded with potential rare-spawns aswell.
    3) Items which dropped were more interesting than in WoD or maybe it's because since in WoD the items are guaranteed to drop, they are less attractive.
    4) Not flying wasn't an issue in TI since the place itself was small. It also made coin-farming viable (yes, I know, it's very subjective) and you could encounter other players all the time. In WoD, non-flying is an issue by now I believe. People would probably engage in world activities alot more if they were easier to access.
    5) TI had actually interesting and enjoyable buffs you could get (from shrines, very easily accessible fruits on the ground and so on), while Draenor has quite zone-specific buffs and in many cases you don't really need to do anything to maintain them and they are quite boring. The buffs on TI made that place enjoyable even on my shitty geared alts because they actually could do damage now.

All in all I don't agree that WoD in general is exactly like Timeless Isle was, it's way too big for that to function like TI did in the first place. If Tanaan is going to be an actual TI 2.0 I will very very likely enjoy that and will look forward to it

New patch incoming. Hope they add more to the zone.

I really don't want the only content to be Timeless Isle and Apexis Dailies 2: Electric Boogaloo. I'm fine with those if they're balanced with dailies and the PTR only just started, so I'll be optimistic.
