Was WoD worth the money? (not qq)

I was talking to a friend today about 6.2 most likely being the final patch of WoD.

If this is true, and I am inclined to believe so, then I think personally I will be a little disappointed.

If we compare WoD to WotLK:

On release WoD had 1 raid and 8 dungeons. (raid was held back for a month I think it was. i remember spamming dungeons on my rogue and thinking 636 was a high ilvl until HM heroic)
WotLK had 3 raids, 2 with one boss and naxx, a re-used raid, obviously it hasn't been CTRL+C, CTRL+V from vanilla, but the skin is the same, right?
WotLK had many more dungeons (I cba to count) while not at the same quality as WoD ones probably due to technology, they were all completely new.
WoD got Ashran which I haven't personally played in enough to make a judgement. From what I hear it was a big flop, though.
WotLK got strand of the ancients BG
WotLK got DK class as much as we all despise them, it is a fun class.
WotLK had Wintergrasp which I loved
WoD got Garrisons which I really enjoyed at first, now I'm impartial to them. i cant really be bothered to log in to check them now

well theres some short comparisons i'm sure I missed a lot of things and I'm probably biased towards liking wotlk more and cherrypicking, but when I think about it it comes down to:

WoD will have 3 raids, two tiers of gear, 8 dungeons
WotLK had 3 at launch, ulduar, ToTC (with a daily area with mounts/weapon/titles/pets), and ICC. there are a lot of dungeons in wotlk, i cba to look up how many.

WoD had 2 patches since release, 6.1's selling point (i say selling point, but it was free ofc) was twitter integration, races at the faire and the selfie camera. I do love the selfie camera and twitter integration but it was poorly timed IMO.

6.2 will have no new BG's, a new zone, 13 boss raid, new demon models, etc. etc.

I am biased towards wotlk as it's my favourite expansion and I'm aware that they had a lot more subs then, so they could probably afford to produce a lot more content a lot quicker, but looking back at it I'm not so sure I like a two tier expansion that ends in a year. not for the most expensive expansion yet. what do others think? would you pay £35.00 for another xpac of WoDs, length/amount of content?

Mixed feelings. Some areas of content were polished to a high degree; levelling and raiding come to mind. Others sucked like Garrisons and Ashran.

I'd say it's a mixed bag, some are bound to love it, some are bound to hate it. For me, I'd say it wasn't worth it, which is why I unsubbed in 6.1.

I have to agree with this, except WoW is not an addiction for me.

Given what you can get off a steam sale for the same money, absolutely not.

No, not worth it at all.
And it will be my last expansion since I have no faith in Blizzard improving on this, since they probably think this is the best expansion they have created.

I agree, it does feel slightly more polished than wotlk, but the difference in amount feels massive. I think I've burnt myself out on WoW as well. before I'd go out and look for a group for an alt run of Naxx when I was bored, or run BG's whilst fully geared for fun. now these things feel like chores and I'm not sure whether the game is less fun or I've spent too much time on it. I did prefer the old talent trees, and I would still be playing a frost mage in pvp if they didnt make the pet permanent and put less emphasis on shatter combos.

when you're a noob the game is a lot more fun, because there's things to learn and experiment with, I guess. nowadays I log in, wipe mythic a few times, log out until next raid. i don't feel like doing any thing out in the world now.

I'll always buy the latest WoW xpac, 'cause I do love the game through it's highs and lows. This thread isn't about shit talking WoD btw, because I do still play and enjoy raiding.

If i get 12hours or more of playtime from 50bucks then it's worth it for me. so yes.

For me personally WoD didn't justify being more expensive.

I'm going to have to go with "Yes". Definitely worth for the leveling experience and mess around with the new stuff.

The available content was actually amusing to play through.
Only problem I had was that it didn't last at all. That's the reason why I took 'a break', bit after 6.1 (which is hilarious for me to be bored of the available content that earlier in an Expansion Pack, but whatever, another thread.) and still waiting and pondering when to return.

However I'll admit, I do hope we already hit the rock bottom and that things get better from here on forward. Would not want another expansion pack like WoD, even if it was entertaining, for me, for a couple months.

In short: Purchase expansion pack, have a blast for a month, or two, while the content manages to keep you entertained. More even if one is really into Raiding and has a reliable group of friends to play with.

Only good thing about wod are the 3d engine and audio engine improvements... if they think this is their best expansion, then they are gone nuts...

WoD is worth around 30 and certainly not 50.

forgot about the leveling. was great the first two times, then I just farmed the Goren cave on my boomkin because I couldn't be bothered to do it a 3rd time. fourth time almost killed me. Not sure why it got so boring. might be because of the more streamlined idea they took with it.

Nah not a waste of money, although the game was not what I, nor many expected it to be. You can hardly tarnish it and brand it as a waste of money. Although the price increase was pretty bullshit if I'm honest. Shit I quit 4 months ago but I still enjoyed, some not all aspects of WoD. Very glad I quit though.

It was worth the money for sure, but it's definitely not as good as the other expansions.

It was worth it. Not worth the monthly fee though. Considering i have played a lot more hours of some single player games, than the new expansion. Was roughly 2 weeks of playtime to do everything it had to offer and then only logging for raids. Done with the game now though and waiting for sunny days and ladies with light outfits on the beach.

Going to agree with this one.
I'd still pay for it, but it's certainly not worth ten more USD than all the other expansions.

For me yes, its worth the money. But if the game cost around 30 $/€ should be better.
