2015 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class is Ridiculous!!!

How in the hell does Green Day get in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Green Day members probably arent even 40 yet and are still making albums. Nobody should get into a Hall of Fame until they retire from their craft. Inductees should be judged on their entire catalog and that cant happen until they arent making music anymore. They could start putting out shit music (and many would argue that most of their 3 chord music is shit anyway) and still be Hall of Famers. There should also be a minimum age of 65 (or be deceased) to get in

So your saying no one should be honored for their contribution to music until they are too old to appreciate it or dead?

Yes yes that makes so much sense.

lets not forget that Metallica was inducted in 2009, long after they stopped making music and all died..... /s

i have a feeling you really dont know much about greenday at all.

Why are people getting upset over the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

No one who's seriously into, and knowledgeable about Rock should care about that stuff. You don't institutionalize Rock'n'Roll. It's silly. And of course, in the grand scheme of things and in relation to the whole history of rock music, Green Day are merely a foot note. But hey, they got ABBA, Madonna and Linda Ronstadt in there. But no fuckin' Deep Purple, Iron Maiden or Motörhead. That tells it all.

It's just a stupid ass-kissing mainstream media fad. It doesn't have any authority in "rock". Or music, for that matter. It's like fucking Grammy's.

You dont see Major League Baseball, NBA, NHL or the NFL inducting people while they still play. In fact they have rules on how many years retired people need to be retired before they can be inducted so they cant come back and play after induction and mess up their legacy

Should Paul Mccartney not have a place then? Since he still plays. What about Ozzy? Van Halen? Kiss?
Probably running on a Pentium 4

Billie Joe Armstrong is 43. And the others 42, 42 and 41.

Check your facts before you throw a tantrum.

Nope. They should only be considered when they retire. Also I dont even consider Paul McCartney Rock and Roll. He is more like pop music much like the Beatles were.

Also they need to stop putting country acts, adult contemporary acts, and pop music acts in there. Its the ROCK AND ROLL hall of fame, NOT the music Hall of Fame

If you get inducted you are no longer allowed to pick up an instrument and play it.

They deserve a spot, just maybe in another 5 years... to make me fell less old. Personally I'd of preferred to see Pearl Jam get the nod.

Performers become qualified for entry when their first album has been out for 25 years, 39/Smooth was released in 1990. Even if you don't like the way Green Day sounds, I don't think it's possible to look at their history and to date and not put them in the Hall of Fame, even if everything they do from this day is an artistic or commercial flop.

I've been listening to Green Day since I was 13. Which is 21 years ago. Thanks for making me think of that.

Firstly the Beatles were rock n roll and secondly pop music came from rock n roll so it does sort of have a place

RRHOF is about as relevant as Grammys.

    ie, not at all.

You can't really compare this to athletes, since musicians tend to play until they fall over dead. Athletes play until 40 or so at most.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has it's own rules for induction:

Artists become eligible for induction 25 years after the release of their first record. Criteria include the influence and significance of the artists’ contributions to the development and perpetuation of rock and roll.
Also, you lose all credibility when you say that Beatles shouldn't be in the RRHoF.

You are comparing sports and music. Its like comparing orange to apple....

In sports you retire at 40, 42 max and you are considered old at 32. In music you can be on stage untill you die!

With this line, you lost all credibility when it comes to knowledge about music. Thread can be closed tbh.
Hint before you make more stupid statements: pop was derived from rock and roll in the 50's/60's.
In the 60's pop was the equivalent of rock and roll (note how pop stands for popular and changes over time).

When you say the Beatles is not rock and roll you are basically saying Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Fats Domino, Elvis Presley, The Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly don't fall in that category either.

Go and think why London was called the rock capital of the world in the 60s, it was because of bands like The Beatles, Moody Blues, Rolling Stones, The Animals, etc.
