Destruction VS Demonology (Single Target DPS)

Hi I was just wondering what's the best spec for single target dps? I know demonology is the best on AOE fights but what's best on example Kromog and Gruul?

Still Demonology until you get some serious gear, even then its still really demo. (i know thats not what you wanted to hear, but its true)

Not really worth showing Kromog logs as there is the hand phase. You could perhaps look at Oregorger/Blackhand ones if you wanted more numbers (though the latter has the balconies which can skew the result). I agree though that Destro seems to be more gear dependent.

You're basically going to want to stick with Demo through and through in BRF. Service/Servitude for single target encounters and Synergy/Cataclysm for cleave/aoe.

Destro needs good gear to be effective. You definitely need 4 piece and a couple of good trinkets to be able to compete with Demonology. Even so, that only happens on a few fights. Gruul, Kromog (because of hands with fire & brimstone) and Blackhand are fights where Destro actually does well. The others are just much better for Destro not only because of the mobility but also because Demo has huge burst AoE whereas Demo has sustained AoE - and there's not even one fight where that is good.

Destro did not do the trick,insane proccs did the trick...would have been more with Demo and that rng.

In all fairness i had 51k the week before, the opener was strong for sure, but past 1min 25 it was actually very weak so it 'sort of' evened out^^

The thing is though destructions single target when you have gear is fine, trinket procs will always be the deciding factor in your dps and the specs 'when you have gear' are so close that you can play whatever you want.

This was a pull with the normal 1 ember aswell, no cheesing^^

What do you mean 1 ember? Do you reset the boss to get more embers, like a Shadow Priest does with Orbs and Mind Blast?

As of now Demonology simply does better on average than Destruction, Destruction can do great too, BUT you need good RNG for that, Demo on the other hand is much more stable.

Yeah because a 2minute ST pull is a good indication of how strong a spec is for single target lol.

Unless you are doing mythic content then feel free to play what ever spec you prefer, they can all hit the numbers you are looking for but demo will do better on most fights (I still prefer destro on beastlord with havok/showburn on spears and CR Destro on Operator, its insane with aoe chaos bolt and even if you suck at it you can put out amazing numbers without perfect gear, at least enough to not worry about being kicked from a pug for low numbers.).

On Gruul Destro can hit its requirements and the odd fight where you are not forced to move in the first minute of the fight you can dish out some amazing damage, the problem is that typically you are forced to move and stuck in paralyze just after you hit your big buff right before unloading all of your chaos bolts. If you can manage to not be picked for paralysis then you can definately chug out some serious damage.

On Beastlord you just remember to keep a dot on beastlord, cleave on cooldown on BL and spears, when ever you hear the horn blast the beast pack comes out and you spread your dot, hit dark soul and burn out your aoe like crazy followed by as many shadowburns as possible and you will have very high dps. Set a macro to put havok on Beastlord for any shadowburns.

I'd have to agree with most of these people. Demonology is typically the top dog even for single target, however, when given enough gear and some solid RNG (tier procs etc) Destruction can definitely hang in there - it just requires a little more luck and some very solid play.
