Possible to upgrade or do I start fresh? work with Maya/DaVinci/Nuke/Adobe Suite

I bought my current build back in 2010 and have since added a few parts and pieces. I just now graduated from university in Film and Animation and am looking to upgrade. I'll add that while I enjoy PC gaming, I don't intend to build around that.

Being an editor and animator I use Maya, the Adobe suite, DaVinci for color correcting/grading, Nuke for compositing, occasionally play around with music production software like Fruityloops, and may start using Unity and/or Unreal 4. I'd really like to be able to play back my animations and effects in real time at as high quality as possible, and ideally pump out final renders quickly.

Initially just looking to upgrade my CPU. Unfortunately, the 1366 socket CPU's were discontinued a few years ago, so I'll need a new Mobo as well. This brings up a whole new set of problems in that my X58 is triple channel. So in order to match or exceed my current RAM, I'd have to invest in some new sticks. As for my GPU, I'm ok with the GTX 470 I have right now, but since Adobe takes advantage of GPU acceleration I'm considering replacing that as well. I'm set on peripherals. Budget is $1000, preferably less if I can get away with it. Any and all suggestions are greatly appreciated!

    Here's my current build.

    Your upgrade list looks sensible.

Something maybe worth looking at would be new monitor unless you're happy with what you have already. 1440p and even 4k screens are getting really cheap and will give big productivity boost to video editing over 1080p or smaller screens.

Currently, I'm rocking a HP ZR24w. It's a beautiful screen and I don't feel the need to upgrade, unless I were to buy a 2nd one (haven't worked with anything about 1080p is all).

How far are you from microcenter ? Can save some cash if you are able to do an instore pickup on the cpu. Noticed you live in Michigan.

And dont forget the thermal paste for reinstalling the cpu heatsink

I was actually going to do just that! I'm just hoping it's still available when I next visit Detroit.
