Dps class/spec with best survivability for raiding?

Hi, i'm looking for a dps class/specc with better than everage survivability. I am more of a PvPer and it s about time to give a pve a long try but i don't feel very comfortable with it, so i need something first which can survive quite a bit:P I more prefer casters, btw. I was thinking about Elemental Shaman, Moonkin or Affliction Warlock (i love this Drain Life thing, when surviving is needed) ... maybe Fire Mage ... What do you think, which would be a perfect class to begin with?

As far as survivability goes a Gladiator warrior seems good. Has all defensive cooldowns the Prot warrior has. Dont think any other dps class has that much. Just no offensive cooldowns. But i doubt its the perfect dps class to begin with as its still sort of tacked on the prot tree.

A rogue. evasion/vanish in case of add aggro, cloak of shadows to remove nastyshit/move through fires and ignore mechanics, shadowstep to ignore mechanics, cheat death if you fail badly and biggest of all, feint, no other class comes close in pve raid survival imo

Rogue can easily outlive any other DPS class. They have:

    • 50% on-demand AoE damage reduction without CD
    • Cloak on 1 min CD which pretty much trivializes any magic debuff
    • Evasion - granting rogue 100% dodge for 10 seconds
    • Vanish to reset aggro
    • Prep - resets CD on Evasion and vanish
    • Ability to spec for Cheat Death - you can prevent your death every 2 minutes
    • Ability to spec for Elusiveness - 30% on demand damage reduction

Yep this is the one thing rogues actually have going for them atm

    For casters probably Warlocks?

Mage's aren't all that, we have Cauterize or Greater Invis and Iceblock, but not much else in terms of survivability.

Elemental is the best choice, astral shift(40%reduced inc damage) + glyped shamanistic rage (60%), on top of self healing, if needed on the move with spiritwalker's grace, elementals that can also shield you for 20% and mail armor.

Warlock by far. Just use the 10% passive dmg reduction glyph, soul link and you'll pretty much never die. Most warlocks use soul leach as well, and have a shield on them. I currently sit around 400khp in raid also.

Warlock for sure. 30% rd passive with soul link and glyph of unended resolution. Plus the regeneration talent plus the glyphed healstone plus tp.

Rogue in terms of best potential.

Warlock in terms of least likely to die to mistakes.

For raiding, you don't need survivability mechanics, you need to learn the boss fights. Any class can survive just fine by not standing in fire, not standing in cleave, etc... If you're good at PvP, you should be fine in raids - PvP takes much more critical on-your-feet thinking, while raiding is just movement and micromanaging your proc uptime and cooldowns.

If you want to play range I'd go with a Hunter
Being able to move while dpsing is a no brainer .
    Deterrence also helps
and Faint Death is cool too.

    If you're wanting melee.
I'd go with a Paladin. They are faceroll easy to play. Can use divine shield and divine protection ..
    and off heals if needed.

oh yeah.. don't forget about monks.
They have cd to negate practically every raid mechanic.

If you're competent/have good reflexes and want melee, go Rogue; if you're competent/have good reflexes and want ranged, go Ele Sham. If you're not competent/have poor reflexes, go Warlock.

    Melee - Rogue
    Caster - Warlock, Ele Sham

    As others have said

Warlock overall for casters, rogue overall for melee.

Spriest has its moments, when there are periods where healing is struggling, Spriests will always be some of the last specs alive during a wipe (if they didn't die to an insta-kill mechanic). I can pretty much survive Hans and Franz mythic without any heals in the final 20% unless I get body slammed twice in a row.

Ty very much for all of your replies
Luckily i have both: Warlock and Rogue lvl 100, and Shaman, Moonkin both 90. I think i'm gonna give my Rogue and Warlock first tries and then we will see
Why noone has mentioned DKs, btw?
    sry for english ...

Are people genuinely suggesting classes that don't = rogue? Wow...

Back in MoP I got a garrosh boost for the guaranteed axe on my rogue, it was the only one I hadn't gotten yet and I just wanted it done. I had 460 item level on it (so heroic dungeon gear + some levelling greens). We did the standard tactic of stacking in the weapon and general yolo.

Lived and bottom of damage taken.

    Because rogue.

It depends on the player more than the class, as a good player knows how to avoid the mechanics and most likely has a good ui to help complement the player and class.

I play hunter and am consistently lowest dmg taken in our raids. _10% dmg reduction, Fd,, det, dis.

Although I could do more dmg, i'm still high but feel it's worth it to help the raid.

Warlock of course, ranged with passive 30% damage reduction, passive HP boost and with shield generated from doing damage.

If Destruction, you lose extra 20% damage reduction, but then you get extra +20% HP, even better shielding and you get a cooldown to instantly boost your HP by 30% for 20 seconds... And really with 650-700k HP in current raids as ranged there is pretty much nothing that can kill you except for pure one-shot mechanics.

Basically because most of Warlock's stuff is passively up at all times, it covers for any fails you were not prepared for well.
