    Advice on this build?

    Completely edited post (11/06/15)

    Thoughts on this-
Priority, Gaming (obviously), with chrome open usually watching a film/twitch running at the same time on a second monitor.

Only thing I can see is maybe change the I7 to the I5, any pros/cons?

I am also unsure on the motherboard, any comments?

I think you can make it alot better. You have to provide us with the budget and country to be more specific. Improvements would be better cooler and case, ram is way too much and i am skeptical why it is 24gb, usually after 16 you go to 32. Standard gaming would be 2x4gb but if you got the budget and don't loose performance elsewhere then 16gb would be awesome and plenty. You can also get better and higher capacity ssd as well as psu. Probably better mobo as well...

The ram is 8gig sticks x3. This was my choice if it is not needed I'll drop to 16.

The PSU did seem low to me compared to other builds I have looked at.

I thought the Asus z97 was ment to be one of the better boards?

That build on pc specialist comes around £1150, so I have around £1100 budget.

    I am in the UK.

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes I had heard bad things on the PSU. Great thanks for that time and effort I'll give it a look over.

What you need the 980ti for? You play @1440p and above resolutions? if not, waste of money, even a gtx 970 would have been more than needed for 1080p.

Not currently, however I am hoping this will remain *future proof* for at least a couple of years without needing many upgrades for a couple of years while being able to maintain high/ultra settings in games up to that point. I understand the 970 is a cheaper and good option and I was originally sold on it.
Until it was pointed out to me how good the new 980ti is in comparison to over cards currently avaliable.

I was looking at upgrading to 1440p gaming at some point, but my main reason behind the 980ti is I'm hoping this build will last a decent amount of time before I need to worry about not being able to play a new game at a high setting.

My last expense was a laptop that has served me well but is now 3 years old and struggling to run new games to a decent level.

So In short I am having to start from scratch again and looking to build something to last a couple of years or so at the higher end of gaming.

Yeah but unless you start with 1440p+ or get one soonish gives nothing. If it takes you 2 years to upgrade the monitor even a 980 is a waste of money. In 2 years a 980 will be what a 780 is now @ 1440p+

I will be looking at getting a 1440p monitor before I order/build the machine. However my research so far has confused me with all the information thrown at me.

Can someone recommend a 1440p monitor? Preferably around the £350 maximum mark. I know you can get monitors under this price I just have no idea about response times etc that people were talking about.

Like I said, very new to all this.

Well i see you got 3 options:

    Monitor: AOC Q2770PQU 60Hz 27.0" Monitor (£329.99 @ Amazon UK)
    Monitor: BenQ GW2765HT 60Hz 27.0" Monitor (£279.00 @ Amazon UK)
    Monitor: Dell U2715H 60Hz 27.0" Monitor (£349.98 @ Aria PC)

For the price difference i would say the Benq would be the better choice.

Besides the 1440p above another interesting options is wide 1080p (2560x1080p). Better performance if you don't have high enough gpu power.
