It Was Never a Dress’ Creatively Challenges Gender Sterotypes

The conversation about breaking down gender stereotypes in regards to popular culture — take, for instance, the universal symbol for women’s restrooms, which depicts a stick figure wearing a tent dress, whereas the men’s symbol simply shows… a person — is one that’s brought up frequently. But what if it turned out that that stick lady wasn’t wearing a dress at all? (And no, that’s not to say she’s nude.)

Late last month, at the Girls in Tech conference in Arizona, a software developer called Axosoft introduced a new concept in female lavatory signs: Instead of that old, familiar, monochromatic “woman” symbol, the shape was colored in to resemble a person wearing a superher-esque red cape. The clever design made its way to Twitter, and voila! #ItWasNeverADress was born.

Because, women shouldn't have to be associated with dresses in order to be distinguished from men.

This ranks up there with some of the greatest non-issues. It's not even a "gender role" thing, bathroom signs weren't telling you to wear a dress, they just needed some easily identifiable way to tell people "This is male and this is female" and most reasonable people who aren't looking for an excuse to be offended were fine with what was made.
Well it's a none issue for some, seeing as how you just stated one couldn't be bothered to even give it prudent thought, for half of the world demographic.

Why does anyone even reply to MS threads? And yes, I understand the irony of this post, but I feel like I had to ask.

    Infracted

Yeah, unlike your great post that are always childish insults, and calling me Mall Cop, LOL when clearly that isn't my name on MMO-C

Would you prefer pink? No that'll offend gender sensibilities AND the colorblind.
How about the word "Womens" well I'm some someone will take issue with the fact that it's not spelled with two "y"s.

Look: everyone is going to get offended by something. Maybe I think that a mens room should have the Hulk on the door because that's how fucking manly I think I am. But the point of a bathroom logo isn't there to make me happy, it's for clarity. Are bathroom logos as they are clear in their meaning and clear in their understanding? Yes! So stop fucking with what works just to be PC.

Some people just always need to be a victim and crusade for a self-righteous cause. You can tell how little there is wrong in their own world when this is the injustice that they fight against. Spoiled kids in a spoiled age, get the fuck out with your nonsense.

    It works for you right?

I think Pink is alright, but more than anything at least it's thought into making things more fair consciously and unconsciously battling sexist attitudes.

Why the hell are the mods allowing this sub form to turn into Tumblr?

These threads end up the same way every time. This is getting fucking stupid.
