i don't like it when either gender is made fanservicey, because it looks stupid. i hate bikini armor, it makes me want to punch people in the throat.

I dislike Fanservice either way most of the time. Stuff like Anime comes to mind. I don't watch stuff like this when its rampant because it feels like the anime wants to waste my time.
Well, there's a difference between making men androgynous and objectifying men for the sake of giving women fan service. Most heterosexual women I know tend to prefer masculine men; hunks. Though I suppose there are cultural differences in the preferred appearance. In any case, my point is it's silly that people want to do away with sexualization entirely rather than giving service to both men and women alike. It seems like a regimen that'll make everyone unhappy.
It is in fact a tendency. All male-dominated Ancient and Classical societies, from Ancient Greece to feudal Japan to medieval Islamic Persia, supported male homosexuality, which is why we know a lot about the gay love life of Alexander the Great (for example) but virtually nothing about, say, the Norse people, who had female warriors and all.
The shadowy Daughter of Urthona stood before red Orc,
When fourteen suns had faintly journey'd o'er his dark abode:
His food she brought in iron baskets, his drink in cups of iron:
Crown'd with a helmet and dark hair the nameless female stood;
Gays hating yaoi maybe because it's written by a bunch of women who have this fantasy of super feminine guys?
I mean lots of gays don't hate on mentaiko
I really don't get the women and the super fem, super thin, and oddly pointy guys. Pointy chins pointy features it's so weird

That is saying more about how in dept our knowledge about these cultures is and less about homosexuality. We know almost nothing about homosexuality among the Norse people because they did not leave and indication about it either way.
By the way did you know the reason the people of the book (Judaism, Christianity, Islam) are so adverse to homosexuality is due to their (not unjustified) dislike for Emperor Hadrian and his lover Antinous whom he declared a god after his (Antinous') death and who became a role model for young roman nobles for centuries afterwards?

They are placeholders for girl characters just with dicks so that the girls reading it don't need to be scared of identifying with them too much.
They can observe some sex without feeling more involved than than they wish to be.
like Noomz and others said, there are more reasons for why people may dislike something with fanservice than just the fact that it has that fanservice.
i'm sure there are plenty of people who just dislike fanservice targeted at the opposite gender/sexuality/etc simply because it hurts their ego, or because they only notice the gross objectification/misrepresentation of their own gender/sexuality/etc, without noticing similar things in fanservice that appeals to them.
but there are often good reasons to dislike a kind of fanservice in general, where the problem isn't just specific to one gender, like the misrepresentation of 'safe, sane and consensual' bdsm shown in 50 Shades (not to mention the fact that it is specifically targeted at people who are curious about these things but who don't really know anything about them and are very unlikely to properly inform themselves, which can actually be potentially dangerous) or like the stereotypical bikini-chainmail that can completely destroy any immersion into an otherwise fascinating game world.
people are obviously less likely to notice bad effects of something that is specifically designed to appeal to them, but that doesn't mean there aren't any good reasons to dislike such fanservice as either gender.
I don't get upset for the fanservice offered to the other gender, not at all. I just dislike fanservice of any kind when it adds nothing to the plot, and oh well, when the plot is based around fanservice, it's just garbage to me. I'd rather go watch porn or something.
Having said that, I wholeheartedly disagree with any kind of censorship on this kind of content. I may despise it, but I have the choice to watch it or not do it. If I'm not directly affected by it, why the hell should I care?
Oh, and mentioning 50 Shades of Grey; that shit doesn't bother me because it has sex in it. There are dozens of things wrong with the books involving treatment of other human beings that disgust me. Those books glorify degradation of others, and condone what I would think it's torture. It's despicable, and far from harmless.

Humans, as imperfect as we are, tend to believe that our observations are perfect. This leads to a disconnect towards other people in that: 'if they do not think and feel how I think and feel then they must be wrong'.
Been watching Fate Stay Night, pretty good show but like most anime they throw in some fan service

I thought people hated 50 Shades of Grey because it has a dumb story.
