Polygon recently did an interview with Ion Hazzikostas. One notable segment was that flying will probably not be in any new zones or expansions:
When Warlords of Draenor first hit, some fans were surprised to discover that even upon reaching the new level cap of 100, they couldn't fly with their air-based mounts in the new zones. Initially Blizzard expected to patch in flying at some point, but now it has changed its mind.

"Having looked at how flying has played out in the old world in the last couple of expansions, we realized that while we were doing it out of this ingrained habit after we introduced flying in The Burning Crusade, it actually detracted from gameplay in a whole lot of ways," Hazzikostas explains. "While there was certainly convenience in being able to completely explore the world in three dimensions, that also came at the expense of gameplay like targeted exploration, like trying to figure out what's in that cave on top of a hill and how do I get up there."

-The positive part: is that since flying was introduced in cataclysm (World Wide) WPVP and ganking has felt a lot more "Meaningless/less fun"
I remeber these days i could out run a lvl 70/80 Player on my 40 paladin because i had aura and avoid being ganked. "That was removed when flying came"

As well i always been enjyoing walking through the beautiful world and some of the sweet created zones when i headed to a dungeon on the other side world or doing some WPVP.

-The negative part: I have farmed a lot of mounts "Just because it's a flying mount and it looks awesome flying" not flapping around on the ground.
It also makes me farm less mounts when i know i can't even fly with it even if it is counted as a flying mount. OK i can fly in the older zones but i want to have it with me all the time and not feeling "forced to be at a place to use it"

And the point of that statement is that there are often solutions to a problem that are not always a direct continuation of what you expect
So when you think about flying/not flying today, try to think about what you like or miss in specifics rather than the blanket feature
Like: I miss flying because I enjoy looking at the world from a high vantage point, or I don't miss flying because the world feels dangerous
It helps us when you can give feedback about the feelings and emotion you have or don't have, and how that affects your behavior.
Yelling at us and telling us we're dumb for making a decision doesn't help.
For example, it could be argued that the command table is a stronger tether to keeping you in the garrison than lack of flight.
Try to dig past the initial feeling and reaction and tell us why you feel the way you do. That's the feedback that makes the game better.

Wouldn't mind if flying stayed if Blizz actually designed the zones around it.
The only zone I can recall that utilized flying is The Storm Peaks.

But I enjoy ground only for WPVP.

Hopefully we can fly in future expansions though, it's a travel mechanic we've invested heavily in!

I enjoy lvling while no flying but afterwards it becomes a chore. I love the game, been playing since vanilla and I can't see a legitimate reason why someone would be happy that other people can't fly. If you don't want to ride on the ground but what is the negative takeaway that makes people actually happy about hindering others'.

I wouldn't be particularly against No-Flying if the world content would actually be enjoyable to move around in, or gave me reason to go to place X doing Y on the way. As it stands, I'd rather skip all the pointless travelling and get to the actual meat of the content, which is already bare bones as it is. (Yes, I'm rather hungry, hence the food convo).

And I honestly doubt that they are actually even able to provide that type of world content.
If they didn't on WoD, where they would have needed it the most with the ninja-experience of removing Flight - as it would surely help the Pro-Flying people at least adjust better, yet they failed! -, I don't think they will in the future.

Your claim assumes that people who supported no-flying did so with the hopes that flying would come back later.

I for one hoped Blizzard would make the choice they've made, and not listen to the whining populace who want convenience. Quite impressed they decided to think of the game's quality this time instead of appealing to the crying. What Aimscoes brought up is pretty much the only minor downside in my eyes, there are some flying mounts that don't look very good on the ground, although it's a pretty small few, the bat, and the flying horses that use the short stocky horse model (Invincible, Hearthsteed, Tyrael's charger, Starpony).

I honestly don't get the design choice. The TBC model (and after) was fine. Level up to cap, and fly. But I would like the 5 second mount cast time back. In that way it's not so easy to escape a WPvP battle if the situation ever arises.

Meh, overall shitty choice imo.
