I actually found this pleasantly surprising considering how much influence Catholicism has in Ireland and i'm glad a democratic vote regarding this was used. Congratulations Ireland

There have never been more young voters registered here until this referendum came about. Glad it passed, the numbers of the "older fashioned" are waning and will be all but gone in the not too distant future. Progress is slow, but it's happening.

by legalizing such.....union.... the government will be forced to provide for gays the same social benefits straight couples are entitled to.... by doing so, the allocated budget will be reduced beyond an acceptable number.

its a loss for straight couples in need of assistance...

other than that, there are a variety of other programs that will need to take into account a large number of gays without having the resources for it.

Gay marriage is going to bring down the economy.

If you're so worried about gay marriage soaking up benefits then maybe we should scrap benefits for all married couples as that way we save even more money? But we don't want to do that because it's in the governments interest to promote that sort of thing.
