FIFA, that company that makes Soccer games is in trouble

    http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/28/sp...mong-them.html

    Finally, some justice.

Investigators reached a turning point in their probe in 2011 when an American member of the FIFA Executive Committee, Charles “Chuck” Blazer, began cooperating with them, one of the people said. Mr. Blazer, a Queens, N.Y., native, began providing FBI agents with information about alleged fraud and money laundering within FIFA’s ranks, according to [a person familiar with the matter].

Mr. Blazer, who from 1990 to 2011 was the general secretary of the Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football, or Concacaf, agreed to record conversations with other FIFA executives after authorities threatened to bring tax evasion charges against him, the person said.
until they all get sent home after being fined for 1 dollar.

FIFA is as corrupted as fuck,

Internet forums are more for circlejerking (patting each other on the back) than actual discussion (exchange and analysis of information and points of view). Took me long enough to realise ...

Saying FIFA is filled with corruption is like saying tons of money laundry is going on in Vegas. Everyone knows it except the actual police.

Big corporations ran the mob out of Vegas decades ago.

How FIFA could manage to replace someone dodgy (Joao Havelange) with someone even dodgier (Sepp Blatter) and get away with it for so long beggars belief. Hopefully this is the start of the house of cards tumbling. Although that will probably mean that UEFA will have waaaaaay more power after this...

We all know the World Cup at Qatar will be a disaster... if FIFA hasnt been broken by that time they definitley will when that World Cup comes round!

Hmmm... isn't the FIFA supported by all national organisations like the FA, DFB and such? The beauty about football is that the fans have so much influence on things... if only they could get organised and pressure their national organisations to force some correctional cleansing in the FIFA body. Despite all the fun rivalry we have, we share the same passion for football all over the world. Why should we tolerate them having the world cup in countries that don't even appear on the football map, have conditions not fit for playing a game on a high physical level and have not a snowball's chance in a desert of ever seeing this competition without actually being the host (and thus getting a wildcard)?

The world cup, ffs. It's not just some damn third rate trophy you can PR tour around the world to gain more money. It has more meaning than any other trophy in the world. Fuck the Stanley cup, before you say it... :P

UEFA can just break away from FIFA and form their own competitions; they have the biggest, richest clubs.

But the South Americans have the best tricks...

Of course, we could just play it out between those two continents. It would probably raise the bar of the competition anyway to exclude NA, Asia and Africa.

I disagree, I don't think it's been an important competition for 44 years, 10 months and 24 days.

Which by a completely random quirk of fate coincides with when England stopped being the holders.

Coincidence, huh? Yeah, let's call it that...

Claiming Fifa is corrupt is like claiming that water is wet, there's no denying it. Would be wonderful if something happens.

It just needs to be cleaned out. Properly.. And that WC taken from Qatar.
And it's more than heinous to host the cup there given the human rights violations and how Qatar is suspected to be one of the countries where ISIS gets it's financial support from.
There are an array of nations that have WC ready stadiums and can host the tournament on a rather short notice.
