My thoughts on the UBs:

- I feel like it is way too cheap for these to be clones/chimaeras of Lily, Lusamine, and Gladion; or are the 3. They look (01 and 02 Beauty, at least) like the 3 characters, yes - but I think there is something more. Creatures from another plane that are mimicing/linked to the "siblings"? Alternate versions of "siblings", from a world where they aren't humans?

- I have a feeling that they could be based on something. But I don't think I can talk about, as per the forum rules regarding post content.

To clarify, I have no quarrels with his design. I think we've been through, what, 4 designs now? Kanto/Johto, Hoenn/Sinnoh, Unova, Kalos, now Alola. I think?
Like someone on reddit said, it makes sense to try and match Yo-kai Watch's audience with this goofy design, from a business standpoint.

I'm just wondering what the school entails? Maybe it's a school for talented trainers or to study Z-Moves? But why are the Trial Captains there?

I don't like the art style of this anime series. Or at least the changes made to it after XY&Z. It shows especially on Ash redesign.

I would say it makes more sense for the Pokemon anime to just be better quality and remain true to Pokemon. Not to imitate Yokai Watch.

The animation for SM anime looks like a thousand steps BACKWARDS from the quality of XY....

The new look of the anime definitely feels a lot like Yokai, which seems incredibly weird for Pokemon to take after the thing that is taking after them. I'm really just hoping the battles have the same quality. The animation itself looks like it has the same quality, but the design of Ash is a bit irritating, like he doesn't seem to fit, even in that 3 seconds of him sitting next to that blonde girl. Like the rest of the characters are the same style that the anime has always had, but Ash stands out almost like he was animated with a different studio.

The cheek squiggles also make him look like an old man a little when his hair is being blown back.

Episode 2 does show some interesting use for pokemon out of combat tho, Arcanine melting walls and Magnemite hacking a door.
Wtb anime without Ash thats a bit more serious...

Also the version of the hideout music used in ep 2 was a nice touch
