Best 2+1 spekaers for gaming, music and movies

    Hey there,
Title says it all. I recently upgraded my pc (went for i5 4690k, Geforce GTX 970 along with Gigabyte GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 and 8 gb of RAM), and would love to get a new sound system since my spekars are almost 12 years old and can't handle loud music anymore. My main focus in their case would be listening to music, watching movies and gaming. What should I consider while buying new sound system? Which manufacturer is best at the moment? Please list budget and no cash limit options, not sure how far I want to go with their price yet.
As always, thank you all for constructive responses in this regard

If you already decided that a 2.1 setup is what you are going with, that you are going to use them as PC speakers, that you want them for musc, movies and gaming, AND especially since you seem to want something that can handle loud music, there is one set that I will recommend above any other:

    http://www.corsair.com/en/gaming-aud...speaker-system

There are countless reviews online, just google "corsair sp2500 review".

Agree with treclol, I'm using this myself and from sound quality through build quality and features, this is an excellent speaker set. While it's not a $30 set it's also not the most expensive out there and very well worth it.

The one thing to be aware of is that the sub is bigger than most pc subs and you might be forced to be creative with placement, depending on how your desk is set up (the exact dimensions are on the page treclol listed)

Ok gonna bite here since you have not placed a budget.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-Compac...keywords=denon

    plus

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wharfedale-D...rds=wharfedale

    with sub

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Wharfedale-D...rds=wharfedale

These parts are all audio specialist companies, corsair is not a audio company, this set up will destroy every gaming branded speaker set up in existence 100 times over.

This set up will require proper full copper speaker cables as an additional buy, you can buy these to the exact lengths you want.

Basically for proper audio, separate amplifier, dedicated bookshelf speakers and stuff like sub is optional but since you are asking for it, you need an amp that can support it which that one does.

Also this looks better aesthetically as a bonus .

If you don't care about sound quality and just want something easy, the SP2500 recommended earlier is a great choice.
If you do, however, think that sound quality matters, there are better options.

Knowing no budget, www.thomann.de is a good site to look at for being in Europe.

You really have to list a budget AND size requirements when you're asking for buying advice concerning audio equipment. A 2.1 setup can cost you anything between a few hundred $ to several thousand $, and vary in size between small "PC speakers" to large floorstanding cabinets.

I'm going to assume a "decent" budget and recommend something like this:

Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 - External Audio Interface (Soundcard) - 129€

    Behringer B2031A Truth - 8 3/4" Studio Monitors - 433€

    Behringer B2092A - Active Subwoofer - 188€

I only listed a subwoofer since you specifically mentioned 2.1, however, it's really not needed as those speakers pack a real punch and have more than enough low range bass for basically anyone's needs.

You can also go the other route with an amplifier/home theater reciever and HiFi speakers, it's what I'm using atm.

As tetrisgoat said, if you care about sound quality you'll want to stay far away from "gaming brands" like Logitech etc, if you're willing to compromise to save costs then the Corsair set that's been mentioned isn't quite as terrible as the rest.

Well, I'm far from a specialist and still looking for new speakers myself but on a more modest budget then what these guys above me are posting and I'm considering the following

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Klipsch-Pro-...ywords=klipsch

They are PC speakers, but from a company that does a lot of high end speaker stuff and might be worth a look

Well certainly I didn't think about really expensive speakers, should have mentioned that earlier. I would like to close myself in 250 euros total. So, in this budget, is there any sense to go higher then above mentioned Corsair speakers? Or should I just visit some proffessional music store (have a few musical friends that could help me with that)?

Well you can get expensive/good quality speakers, but do you have the hardware for it? Dunno how good on board sound would handle it.

Again, depends on what you want out of it.
I have a set of (in the context of HiFi) low budget HiFi speakers, in the 260~ euro range.
They are an amazing set of 2.0 and I honestly would never ever need a sub to them.
So if you want a really good listening experience, yes, go to the music store.
If you don't really care/want something easy, Corsair SP2500 is the least bad mainstream kit you can get. I'm sure you'll be happy either way.

    I have a Logitech z623 2.1. Great sound at a reasonable price. ($110US) on sale I think.

I like mine too. They aren't in any way audiophile speakers but they have lots of volume and the sub is more than enough to make the neighbor 3 houses down pissed off.

After some consideration, I think I'll go for Corsair SP2500. Last question is, can someone from UK or Germany recommend me a good online store where I could buy them? They are unavailable in Poland.

I might be slightly off the track here, but catch my drift here.

I use some Yamaha's HS8 when i make music, but i've noticed they are VERY good for music/movies and gaming aswell, i can hear stuff that i normaly cant pretty much..

but then again, i dont have much hearing left after i've been playing guitar LOUD as hell for 11 year's..

and yes, they are quite exspensive for some 8" 120W's, but you get what you pay for pretty much.

Anyway, i dont hope i was waaaaaaay to far from the mark here, just putting it out there

Not at all, that's why I made that post: to get different opinions. I'm gonna make a trip to the music store anyway, to see my options and compare prizes. I come from a musical family so the qaulity of the sound is pretty important for me: just don't want to overpay for it

Hate to say it, but for average sound quality, you just did overpay for it on the corsairs in fairness, what stopped you from getting something cheaper with what is similar quality?

If you wanted quality then a amp and speaker option even at 200 euros would beat the corsairs, we did ask you what you wanted yet never really answered til now that quality was important.

Ok, so, I don't want to get an extra audio card: I have GA-Z97X-Gaming 5 motherboard with build in audio device and don't think I'll buy extra one ( or should I? ). I haven't gone for Corsairs yet, still planning on visiting audio shop first. I am using mu computer as a TV and Hi Fi gear, so the sound qaulity is pretty important (up to 250 euros important, not more ). I need music loud and clear enough for some house parties, not techno raves. Size isn't such a big problem, I have a lot of space in the room I keep my computer in. And finally, aesthetics are also pretty important for me and the size doesn't matter, as long as they won't get bigger then like 1 meter. Hope that was clear enough, thanks for all the responses

    Personally something like

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Denon-RCD-M3...rds=denon+dm39

    +

    http://www.richersounds.com/product/...0/whar-9.0-blk

You will need speaker wires, you can have these cut to exact length.

Also that amp unit accepts optical in which that motherboard supports and thats all you really need.

Another bonus with that unit is, you can fit a additional sub woofer, like a proper one at another time.

If you want sound quality then this is the route you need to take, people who know their audio won't give approval on your thoughts to be honest, ask for advice for audio, this is what you will get.

For £200 I doubt anything comes close to the SP2500 for a PC setup they are more than enough, My buddies Tannoy setup (amp+speakers) don't even come close in the clarity department plus weren't they designed by some top guy from Bose?

I would go as far to say they are borderline audiophile quality without breaking the bank as long as you have a decent soundcard and quality music but it all boils down to preference.

    I have these: http://www.thomann.de/pl/alesis_m1_active_520_usb.htm

There is only one small thing i would mention with these: They have a slight background noise when turned on. But you can only really hear it, when you currently have no sound output from your pc and the rest of the room is really quiet.
Why do something simple, when there is a complicated way?
