    Blue Yeti Microphone Oversensitive?

So, I was looking for a cheaper, but stronger microphone compared to my logitech g35 headset's, and found a blue yeti online for cheap ($45), and snagged it.

I installed it, and tried it out in DayZ and recorded from OBS. When I went back to listen, despite changing the gain and lowering the level in my PC setting, the microphone is oversensitive. It picks up the computer, as if it was directly next to it. Infact, there is so much background noise from the computer fans alone, that it kills the recordings all together.

Any suggestions on how to remedy this?

Maybe try changing its mode on it.

Yeti's have 4 different modes. You want to be using Cardoid Mode. That is the mode that only picks up what is directly in front of it.

Cardoid - records sound sources that are directly in front of the microphone
Stereo - records sound all around using two channels, and is best for recording things such as guitars, choirs, etc
Omnidirectional - records sound from all directions equally
Bidirectional - records sounds in two directions (front and rear)
