Reddit needs to reverse their stance imo otherwise long term it will become useless.

I'm glad voat is moving elsewhere

So a hosting provider terminates a contract with a company utilising it's services because they feel it is damaging to their brand because of all the hatred on it?

How is there a problem here? The hosting provider clearly doesn't want to be associated with hate speech.

Hmm, can't really fault a company for wanting to disassociate themselves with what appears to be the leftovers from those banned subreddits.

Although a company even in the US would be within their rights to shut down offensive content being hosted on their servers.

This is like renting out your house and then later discovering your tenant is using it as a chapel for the KKK. Of course you want to remove them and ensure your name doesn't have any association with it.

Guess it has to do with all the fat people hate cunts that migrated from reddit? If so then good riddance.

Free speech laws in the US are little different, seeing as they don't apply to private entities. Sure, you can say it, but if they want to ban you, that's perfectly fine too, US or EU.

They didn't want to be affiliated with that I guess. A better heads up would have been nice but nothing to do but move on.

The difference is groups like the Nazi Party are outlawed. The EU has hate speech laws that don't exist in the US.

Sure, a private business can ban anyone for anything, but in the EU some speech is illegal and a private company can suffer legal consequences.

Their servers, they can decide what they want to host. Neutral on the rest.

I'm so glad they are taking the meanie faces off the internet.

This whole needing to moderate content primarily accessed by mature adults to prevent hurt feelings will usher in a new age of social darwinism.

Seems like an acceptable opinion to have as a hoster.
Hate speech isnt really something, I want to have protected by the goverment.

Treating people like idiots is okay; actively attempting to root out places where idiots congregate makes you a masochist. And also quite possibly an idiot.

They aren't "taking the meanie faces off the internet", they are just saying fuck off if you want to host hate speech - we don't want our company associated with it. Which is perfectly within their rights...

Voat can either invest in their own servers or find a hosting provider who doesn't mind hosting hate speech.

Unless you like KKK and join the party...

I can only congratulate that provider and fuck freedom of speech if its only reason is hate and bullying. It's sad that a lot of people have nothing to do with their shit fucking lives than to search for the perfect site to throw up their fucked up minds on...

And banning stuff usually works, too. It's why the temperance movement was such a smashing success in the US and the war on drugs has turned the Middle East, South America, and Africa into prosperous, stable geopolitical entities.
