No, we don't have anyone that we gained independence from.

The Channel Islands have Liberation Day, which is the closest sort of thing, but they aren't in England, or Britain, or even the UK - we only have them to annoy France.

there's fireworks going off in my neighborhood already, fireworks and gun shots. i hate it so much. all the booming makes me so fucking nervous and jumpy.

so, today sucks for me, since it's my birthday and i have to be nervous and jumpy all day.
