Slang, mannerisms and other oddities specific to your culture vs the world.

    TL;DR:
    • Does your culture/country/region/area have any slang, mannerisms or other oddities associated with it that makes it unique?
    • If so, what is it:
    • What is something that you find strange from other culture's that falls into one of the categories listed above?

Got back into Challenge Modes the other day and found myself grouped up with people of all sorts of cultures from around the world It was very interesting to find out what's normal and what isn't to them, and vise versa hearing about what they find weird about my culture to their own.

For example I always get called out for my use of the term "Eh?" as a Canadian.
I've also found out that Poutine and Bagged Milk isn't a thing in other parts of the world.
I also found out that Aussie's use the word "Cunt" in place of "Fuck" and in Germany some fast food places sell Beer right in the store.

Point being the world is wild and awesome all over. I like finding out what makes each part of the world unique and what seems odd to different cultures when viewing their own.
Explaining Bagged Milk to American's is great fun.

I think weird easterners need to get rid of bagged milk because I'm tired of explaining that I don't even get bagged milk in Alberta. It comes in a fuckin carton or a jug just the same

I'm from Texas and I liberally use the word "y'all." It is highly efficient, and I love it, and I feel like Paula Deen sometimes (and, arguably, that's the best part).

    -Yes
-We say "Howdy," as a hello. There's a statistically disproportionate number of pickup trucks, cowboy boots, and large belt buckles here. Not everyone does this, but more than in other parts of the world.
-Japan has some odd stuff, some of their TV shows in particular.

Yeah, I can't stand Ebonics. It's actually making it hard for me to play Grand Theft Auto 5, just because I hate that dialect so much.

You can choose to not socialize with the kind of people that speak in such mannerisms.

The Australians have awesome slang. I was hanging out with some Australian coworkers at a pub the other night. Every other word out of their mouths was some sort of slang, usually something I'd not heard before, despite having worked with Australians for years and having spent two weeks in Australia myself.

A big thing lately has been "Black Twitter" but I would love some Australian Twitter. Their latency may be bad but they're always hilarious. Love when I get a CM with one of them.
