Are There Any "normal" Muslim/Islamic Countries?

I keep hearing about how disgusting some islamic countries are when it comes to basic human rights, and im not sure if this is universal or not? Are there any muslim/islamic culture focused countries that don't hang gays, beat women who try to be indipendant, or run slaves and human traffik? Is there one that allows people gto go to school and get jobs? Let them use internet, tv, be gay(Doesnt need to include marriage), let women leave a man, etc? Or are they all barbaric?

Turkey is meant to be a secular nation but has been pushed more towards a fundamentalist version of Islam by Erdogan and his corrupt cronies

Morrocco is fine, Tunisia was until those two recent nutcase killed a load of people, but put it in perspective, the country and the people are perfectly normal by any standards

It is very easy to generalise over what we all see in the media

In Islamic countries, like every other country in the world, the average person wants to be able to earn a living, enjoy family life and be able to feed themselves

Not exactly "normal" they have pockets of Terrorists Cells throughout that are largely free to basically do what they please.

I guess the closest would be Iran/Turkey. But even they seem to be getting worse and worse compared to their Mid 1900's selves.

A lot of countries have human rights violations listed, even the west that's something to take into account. So barbaric is a strong word to use, religion also has less to do with this than people think has more to do with how well your education system is and thus your population and the wealth plays a large role also in it, there are plenty of christian heavy countries that are very intolerant towards gays or other religions.

When people speak of barbaric you don't have to look at countries like Malaysia, Jordan but more at countries that have a tribal political structure and when we look at that which religion is the most dominant plays very little part.

I do have to say that i find Muslims to be generally much more conservative than liberal in that aspect and i'm just seeing among my generation (nearing 30), which is the third generation now in europe that people of that background are becoming more open-minded on that and taking religious traditions less serious. These generations and more educated people also exist in countries as Iran, hence the whole arab spring what sadly had the opposite outcome in too many nations.
