What do you do if the wrong package was delivered to your door step?

What would you do if a Package got delivered to your house and when you opened it up you found out it's...

    Cocaine?

Assuming you opened it by accident (i.e. you didn't see the name / address before opening it), then you call the police.

If you did see the name, why did you open it? It wasn't addressed to you, so you can be held liable for intentionally opening a package that you knew wasn't yours. Potentially a double whammy if it is coke.

Isn't there something about how if a package is delivered to your house, then it's yours like 9/10th kind of thing?

It's just on your doorstep, you live a respectable safe neighborhood, don't you want to know whats in it, and how would it be a federal offense, what if it's UPS just dropping it off by mistake.

    Pretty much this.

I'm usually at home when packages are delivered in my neighborhood. I accept them and keep them in my house for 1-2 weeks, if they haven't picked them up or are never home when I ring, I take them back to the post office.

either the sender, the receiver, or a Law organization is going to come knocking on your door wanting to know where their coke is, or why you have a brick of coke being delivered to your door. One thing I Learned a long time ago is not shit where you eat, and taking delivery of a brick of coke is like taking Foot long steaming turd on your dinning room table.

Opening other people's mail is a crime, and a mailed package has a fairly obvious paper trail. I wouldn't open it in the first place.

EDIT: Oh, if it was addressed to me, and contained something like cocaine, then it's going right to the police.

Happens quite a lot at my house. We typically call the delivery company's main number and tell them we received a package for the wrong person or at the wrong address. They send someone back out to scan in and take the package off to its true owner.

You regularly get packages of cocaine at your house? BRB, calling cops.

If I got a sealed package sent to my door that was clearly not intended to be sent to me, I wouldn't open it in the first place.

I would not open it O_o I would call the mail company, or deliver to the person myself if I knew who it was (maybe the previous owner of the house? Happens a lot here!).

    NEVER
    NEVER
    NEVER

Open other people's mail stuff. It isn't mine, and I would not like to have my mail being viewed by someone who isn't me.

Missed the cocaine part. I get packages for other people or other addresses. I wouldn't know a package actually contained the cocaine though, if it were addressed for someone else I wouldn't open it to find out. If it was just an unlabeled or otherwise unofficial box with cocaine in it then I'd call the police to report it.

I wouldn't open it in the first place. I'd call the carrier and tell them they fucked up (unless the intended recipients are neighbors/people I know, in which case I'd hand it over to them).

edit: if the package is actually addressed to me and contains cocaine, I'd call the cops.

    Call the police?

Even if I was criminal enough to make money from it, how could I do that? Drive to the next city, look for a dark corner near the station and ask people passing by i they want to buy coke?
