Unhappy Good computer - Bad preformance??

Hi. I can't figure out what causes my bad FPS? I tried running The Witcher 3 recently and it's on 3-10 fps on medium settings... WoW is about 20 FPS at Ultra
    Can somebody help?

    Here's my computer info:

    MSI GeForce GTX 970 GAMING - 4GB GDDR5
    MSI Z97 PC Mate
    1TB WD Black 7200rpm 64MB
    Samsung SSD EVO 850-Series 120GB
    Core i5 4690K 3,5GHz
    Cooler Master G650M, 650W PSU

EDIT: Solved! Thanks to mmo-champions slightly better than average online community my problem got solved and I didn't get fooled to ruin my new computer

Make sure you're using the gtx 970 and not the intel graphics.(you should be using the hdmi/dvi port that comes from the graphics card not the ones on the motherboard)

How can I change it if I've somehow gotten the intel one?
When I go to Device Manager and go under "Display adapters" it only shows Intel(R) HD Graphics 4600, if that's to any help.

Plug the hdmi or dvi cord into the port coming from the graphics card, not the ones coming from the motherboard.

Could be anything, hard to figure out what happens just knowing specs. I've had performance issues because of dozens of different things, harddrive, ram, gpu, virus, drivers etc.

You have to check out everything by yourself and eliminate possibilities.

It runs from the back or bottom of your monitor to the computer. One cord is power (to an outlet) and the other is your HDMI/DVI cord.

On the back of your computer, you'll see a cluster of connections (mostly USB), and your HDMI/DVI cord should not go there. On the other side should be a number of what look like slits...there several HDMI/DVI connections in one of those slits. Connect your monitor to that using the most appropriate connector.

Uhh that's not good. Even if your cord was not plugged in the right place, it should still show your 970 there as well.

Are there any yellow "!" marks in device manager? unknown devices? It sounds like your drivers for the 970 aren't installed.

Is this a brand new system?

This is your problem, it's certainly plugged into your onboard graphics port instead of your supplemental one.

The "only" cord should be going from your GTX card to your monitor.

You need to get an adapter for that cable... I can see the DVI connection of you gfx card at the bottom of that pic. You need a VGA > DVI adapter

Well... Does your monitor have other ports, or only that kind?

If it has others (DVI, HDMI), use those to plug into your video card

If it doesn't, your card SHOULD have come with a VGA to DVI (Rectangular port) adapter.

You also still need to install your new GPU drivers (Im assuming this is a new card)

Yeah Krekal it doesnt fit thats why you need to find "VGA > DVI adapter" or buy new cable. Check the Graphics Card's box there should be adapter i think.

I checked the monitor and it had HDMI1 and HDMI2, so I will have to get a HDMI cord for my graphics card to take place instead of my intel graphics..

So, you've identified the problem. You need to connect the monitor to the graphics card (as you correctly identified with your image). chazus pointed out your only 2 options, find the VGA to DVI or VGA to HDMI converter that should have come with your graphics card, or connect your monitor via a DVI or HDMI cable. What are the connectors on your monitor? That will tell you if you can get a DVI and/or HDMI cable to work.

Also, pay attention to what chazus said about the graphics card driver. You can download it from nvidia.com, but don't do that until you fix the cable situation.

The newer graphics cards without VGA ports almost always come with VGA->DVI adapters. It should be somewhere in there unless whoever you bought the PC from trashed it. And that can hold you over until you get an hdmi cable which you should.

That would probably be the best thing to do. UNLESS your box came with an adapter (Most do!). Check that first, though HDMI will likely be the best solution, and only cost 5-10 bucks

Thanks, I'm not the best with this stuff as you may have noticed. Heh.

I tried to get the nvidia stuff going before but it quit before System Check, saying "requires an NVIDIA GPU".

Also I found this, i can put my screen cord into it and into graphics card, right? http://m.imgur.com/RQwLVUF,wCpnHnS

I'm not sure if it's an adapter or not but see this: http://m.imgur.com/RQwLVUF,wCpnHnS.
    5-10$/£/€ isn't a problem so even though I got ^ should I get a HDMI one?

I'm inches away from considering this a troll post...buuut...

    First of all;
    - You simply need to get a DVI cable, or if your monitor doesn't support it, a VGA to DVI, or a converter between them.
    - Check your monitor, see if it has a similar port as the ones on your GFX card.
    - If yes; Go to a local dealer and ask for a DVI cable. If they ask, it's female to female.
    - If no; Still go to your local shop and ask for a 'VGA to DVI' converter. The converter needs to be VGA(male) to DVI(Female).

    Yup, that's the one:
    http://m.imgur.com/RQwLVUF,wCpnHnS

    Second:
    - Go to NVIDIA.com and download new drivers for your GFX card. That's only going to work if the GFX card is recognized by the system and properly connected. Or functional at all. If downloading drivers and rebooting your pc does not work (of course AFTER connecting the right cable), I advice you to bring your PC to someone that knows what he's doing.

This means that your GFX card is not recognized by the system. Open the case and make sure it's properly fixed into the motherboard (a LITTLE bit of force won't harm it, just make sure you don't use force on parts that break) and all power is connected from the PSU to the GFX card.

Edited: to respond to OP after his latest post.
