The beginning is awesome but nothing beats Anduins Theme atleast for me

Zone wise this is my fav so far hands down, I'm a sucker for this Howling Fjord stuff.

Okay the third quest is probably most interesting (and the only one where anything other than a cutscene happens)

You go to the outdoor part of Blackrook Hold (where you quest, not into the dungeon itself) and get a scenario where you are controlling Illidan, helping Kur'talos and the Moon Guard defend it from the Legion during the WotA. You active a portal to summon more moon guard, and get an escort of 4 NPCs while you go try to clear out the demons and secure the area. You start with no abilities except for your autoattack (which also causes the moon guard with you to attack that target too), and new NPCs appear if they are all killed. During a "boss" encounter you get a cutscene once she reaches ~80% at which point Illidan realizes that fel magic > arcane magic, and you get an ability that lets you channel a heal that kills the 4NPCs (Illidan drains their life), and for each NPC killed this way you get a stacking 50% damage buff that lasts until the end of the scenario. You then get a Heroic Leap-type ability that does a ton of damage in a large aoe, then a disengage-type ability, then a channeled eyebeam type ability (except it lasts like 15s and you can move).

You finally reach a giant infernal enemy, which a fuckton of NPCs are fighting. Illidan realizes he has to drain the lives of all the moon guard fighting, which unlocks a final ability which one shots it. Lord Ravencrest, however, is pissed that Illidan killed all these people, and Illidan shoots back that if he hadn't, the Legion would turn the world to ash. He calls Ravencrest a fool and a coward, tells him next time to try begging for his life, then storms off. The naaru Xe'ra who is creating this flashbacks then says it was a difficult decision and understanding Illidan's perspective is important.

Then we get sent back, and there's a 4th quest that sends us to Azshara (the zone in Kalimdor) for another flashback

Yeah, it's a continuation of the Light's Heart questline

It's funny that while trying to get us to sympathise with Illidan they are simultaneously making him even more of a villain.
It's probably on purpose but still, amuses me.

If you've read the War of the Ancients books, this is all known or not surprising for his personality and things he did. For those that haven't, it will be interesting to see how people feel about Illidan with this information. :P

I didn't think it was a surprise, I just didn't think he canonically drained the life of a bunch of allied guards before.

It's portrayed slightly different than that, but essentially he has command of their power as a unit and gets lost in absorbing it and using it to cast powerful spells. End of the day ends up the same I guess.

This seems to be Illidan background and Illidan book in cinematic form. Next 2 quests seem to be taken directly from Illidan book.

He uses arcane magic

Quest 4 is a cutscene in Azshara where his eyes gets burned out by Sargeras. He realizes the army fought during WotA is an insignificant number compared to the Legion's full force and something has to be done

Quest 5 you go to Outland Shadowmoon Valley and get to play the BT Illidan fight from Illidan's PoV

This is sad. Reminds us that we still are far away from pre patch

Hope they add a few 'named' npcs to the docks. Important leaders, but whom dont show up later at Broken Shore or Dalaran, running the show there.
Grand Magister Rommath, Eitrigg, Boss Mida, Perith Stormhoof and Rokhan for the Horde.
Darius Crowley, Kurdran Wildhammer, Tinkmaster Overspark, Jarod Shadowsong, Grand Admiral Jes-Tereth for the Alliance.
Maybe Lorewalker Cho in SW and Xarantaur in Orgm. Perhaps Have Left and Right sneaking around, looking in on things for Wrathion.
