Status of Hunter

I have a level 91 hunter and was thinking about maining it. So how's the hunter for PvE?

BM is the way to go leveling wise right?

Hunters are solid in PvE. We aren't "top" damage but we sit close to it. So very viable.

Downside, only MM is really strong spec atm. You can play BM and Surv is your heart is set on it, but you will be doing a lot less dps and if you don't play really wellll, chance you get removed from groups for subpar dps.

Are you for real? Hunters are literally the best class, because they are so versatile. Movement fight? Meh, who cares, I'm a hunter. Standstill dps check? Solid there, and with lucky procs can be top (disregarding arcane mage with bis + ring). Cleave fights? Chimera shot has you covered. Even aoe is semi-decent.

There is simply nothing hunter is not at least good at.

Might explain why every high end guild had at least 2 Hunters in all of their first kills, some kills even had 4 Hunters(eg. Paragon's Mannoroth and Tyrant Velhari kills).

Hunters are good in PvE if you know what you are doing. There are better classes damage-wise but you can still pull your weight.

I've been MM and offspec SV all expac, and I can tell you each hunter spec has had its time to shine since WoD release. Currently, MM is the PvE hunter spec to play as it excels in doing high damage to priority nuke targets, which is needed for most prog fights in HFC. Well played BM hunters are also pretty good, not as good as MM but still alright in the right hands. SV just got a 25% buff but is still not advised to use as its strengths dont suit any fight in HFC bar Hellfire Assault on farm (even then its garbage).

But as a class, hunters are great since they can cast while moving, allowing them to continue their rotation whilst avoiding damage. Just be prepared to cop some abuse since hunters are stereotyped as being a bit dull (if shit goes wrong its almost always the hunter blamed :P).

Melee....hunters arent so hot at melee. Also, MM healing is a bit subpar

I actually am enjoying this tier. Only one spot I can think you want to AoE.. and that is hands on Kromok. Rest of the time, your pretty much going to want to have a single target rotation with barrage added in for cleave. Marks is very strong right now.

granted its not mythic or heroic, but my alt hunter has been consistently top 5 if not top 1 or 2 dps every fight. honestly you'll be fine if you are just coming back. play whats fun, have fun, you're still valuable.

Mirror + your barrage and most things die unless your other AoE classes are bad. With that trinket, MM is pretty damn good burst AoE....sustained we'll suck.
