Challenge mode question?

Do you need to have done the heroic version before you can do the challenge mode version of a dungeon?

I got alts i wanna run chally mode with but i really dont wanna have to do heroics first on them.

In WoD you don't have to have done heroic.

I've done hundreds of Gold sales this expansion, the posts after me talking about how they're not sure are inevitable.
