Knitting or crocheting.
dunno what house parties you going to, but the ones I go to very rarely have conversations about specific topics
Depends on the people attending... house party can have literally any kind of crowd. As for dates I still secretly wish I will one day meet a women who doesn't say the last time she heard about physics was in high school. One can dream. <_<.
Anything about their family. Good god I really don't give a shit about your niece or your daughter. Shut up and get shit faced with me and lets talk about something else. I
NO I DON'T WANT TO SEE ANY DAMN PICTURES OF YOUR FAMILY GATHER....NOOOOO PUT IT AWAY PUT THE PICTURE AWAY....GOD DAMNIT YOU TOOK IT OUT.
Sports.
I can listen along on topics I know nothing at all about and at least be entertained... unless it's a discussion of sports. (old fashioned physical sports, anyway)
"Bananas, like people, sometimes look different when they are naked." Grace Helbig
Most people bore me most of the time.
I was at the railway museum with my girlfriend a couple of months ago though and I was explaining the intricacies of the modern Watt-type steam engine and how they differ from the earlier designs and then one of the museum employees came up and interjected and then we geeked out about steam engines for like 10 minutes straight. It was better than sex.
So anything that is neither scientific nor technical just doesn't need to be said.
I think of a "house party" as High School thing. Where kids dance and drink liquor out of red solo cups.
The last time I was in attendance of such a thing was literally high school. Like 22 years ago. Where I think the topics of conversation were mostly concerned with hooking up and scoring marijuana and ecstasy cheaply.
However, at adult orientated parties I usually have little to no context of local sports. I just don't know what the hell they are talking about at all. Especially basketball.
I am very fortunate that few humans have ever engaged me in conversation about sports.
I also do not understand cars. I don't understand how they work, how to drive, why traffic behaves as it does, how to get places by car, etc. Cars are deeply confusing to me. Don't ask me about cars.

Subject matters little to me, it's more how intelligent the person is or how enjoyable he or she is to listen to. Some people can talk about uninteresting subjects but can add fun anecdotes to it what makes it interesting to listen to.
Politics can also be fun especially if there are local politicians in the room, even more so if they have opposite views

I'm happy if the subject doesn't change to celebrities or anything in that trend and if it's about how much i earn and own (some bitches lack any and all decency and flat out ask you how much you earn and if you can proof it, yeah...), honestly. Also people talk on dates? most of the time i feel like they are on a date with their phone and i'm just there so that they don't sit alone, not all people are like that but some people really can't keep their hands of their phone for
I dunno, I think 15 years of online forums killed politics for me permanently
An interesting party conversation on the flip side of things would be adam86shadow's browsing history.
My college major. I engage people when they ask about it, simply because I appreciate the attempt to get to know me, but I've talked to so many people about it at this point that it bores me. Plus, it usually turns into a conversation about video games, which in any other I would be totally down for, and I'd rather talk about something else.
That said Cam4 can be fun
