Universal Pictures will reimburse theaters for extra security at ‘Straight Outta Compton’ screenings

    http://www.nydailynews.com/entertain...icle-1.2325617

Theaters nationwide that pack extra security heat for screenings of “Straight Outta Compton” will be reimbursed by Universal Pictures, the studio announced ahead of the film’s release.

“The studio has not solicited enhanced security for theaters who will begin showing it this weekend, but has partnered with those exhibitors who have requested support for their locations,” a Universal spokesperson told Variety

"It shouldn't be needed. It's just a movie. Universal takes this to the extreme," said Christian Figueroa, 16, at the Regal Battery Park theater. "If they're doing it for this movie, why aren't they doing it for all of them?"
    Why indeed...

But hey its nice to see the studio helping to facilitate a safe movie going experience.

    Sounds like good advertising.

What, exactly, are people scared of? What do they think is going to happen?

Honestly, I'd be more afraid of same insane white supremacist shooting up a movie screening than I would be of any black person "being inspired to riot against the man on the spot."

the number of cop killings in this movie was insane

also when that guy pissed on a US flag, was moving but maybe unncessary

i really thought the scene where they stalked and killed a law abiding white family was a little over the top though

It shouldn't be needed but some ingrates can't recognize consideration and generosity. Figueroa should have said thank you and nothing else.

I'm leaning on the only problems that are going to happen at the theater, will be caused by african americans at the theater. Movie being what it is, and african american culture being what it is right now.

Maybe go see the movie and judge for yourself before you begrudge it for supposedly "instigating" people.

I mean hell, did people press theaters for heightened traffic security surrounding them after screenings of Mad Max: Fury Road?

Wouldn't want any of those Aussies to get the wrong idea and start climbing on top of cars or ramming people off the road.

Some demographics cause more trouble than others, and you have a movie that will bring a large number of them. More likely for their to be trouble at this movie than say Minions. Also security will give impression that there will be no trouble so other movie goers will still visit the theater.

Last shooting at our theater (well drive by in parking lot) was not done by a white guy.

Not enough content? Change you dislike?
Unsub or sub later. Give Blizzard feedback, "vote" with money.

So what you're saying is "black people will see this movie, and black people cause trouble, so black people could cause trouble following this movie?"

Like, if that's what you're saying, owe up to it.

    Well also before the movie.

Not sure about your area, but in mine young black males seem to cause most incidents of large public fights, and shootings in public places.
Similar to the reason Waffle House has security at night in certain parts of town.

Relax, you asked what people are afraid of and I told you.

I offered up no personal opinion on the movie at all.

    So is that good news?

They'd better have extra security for Dawn Of Justice and the next WWE film then, since we now know for certain that Batman and John Cena get all the psychos gunning for the best seats.

Well we as gamers of course know that violent media is extremely encouraging to do violent actions, which is why CoD and GTAV (and others violent games) has SWAT teams protecting any events that such things are consumed or purchased.

I hope this actually happens, just to see if people would react the same to such a thing.

Not going to see anything in a theater until that movie is gone.

I don't remember race riots breaking out about Malcolm X when it came out in 1992.
