2016... the most important presidential election in decades?

I don't usually talk about politics anywhere, but I have to say that the possibility that Donald Trump seems to have more to his presidential campaign than I ever thought he would.

I can't stand the guy. Even looking at him makes me cringe. Yet, he does have some ideas that I agree with, but certainly not enough to get me to vote for him. I don't need a media whore for president. I need someone who can get people to agree on things, and I think that makes him a terrible choice.

You also need to have at least SOME filters in your life, and he doesn't seem to have any.

But I look at the rest of the republicans and I am almost giggling at how badly they are representing themselves. I don't think any of them have a shot to win the nomination. My guess is that Scott Walker is the only one who could touch Trump, and he's an ass-hat too, with a touch of evil in him. But it's not really funny, as this may be the most important presidential election in decades. ( ISIS, Putin, more HIGH QUALITY jobs for Americans, and education being what I see as the top 4 issues )

So, what does that leave? Hillary Clinton? I think she will be the democratic nominee.

Not for me. I would absolutely vote for a woman, but just not her. I just don't trust her, and I dislike a lot of what she stands for.

So, once again, I will be casting a vote for someone I know has no chance to win. That sucks.... especially when I consider this to be such an important election.

Well, odds are their will be two Supreme Court nominations by 2020, so yea it's fairly important.

Sanders is my choice right now.

Everyone thought Hillary was only choice for the 2008 election. Whoops.

Let's all ride the Gish gallop.

Well, I do like that he is the needle that jabs her, but I doubt he has any chance either.

Everyone who is not a multi-millionaire or billionaire should throw their support behind Bernie Sanders and Larry Lessig if they want their country to be in the interests of all American citizens, not by the interests of multi-national corporations and the wealthy.

I think you are underestimating Bernie. Hillary will lose a lot of face with her supporters in the coming months and Sanders is gaining a lot of steam. Don't count him out yet

^This. While on a great many things (foreign interventions, taxation, the environment, election reform and corporate regulation (and the lack thereof), building a domestic police state, the war on drugs, failures of the justice system, and even the basics of our social safety net) there's very little difference between the two parties, Democrats do tend to appoint far more liberal justices, particularly when it comes to culture war issues - so for next year's "lesser of two evils" Americans will get to decide between a pair of virtually identical candidates, except that one will actively promote a repressive theocracy and the other won't.
"In today’s America, conservatives who actually want to conserve are as rare as liberals who actually want to liberate. The once-significant language of an earlier era has had the meaning sucked right out of it, the better to serve as camouflage for a kleptocratic feeding frenzy in which both establishment parties participate with equal abandon" (Taking a break from the criminal, incompetent liars at the NSA, to bring you the above political observation, from The Archdruid Report.)

There is serious momentum for Bernie Sanders. Hillary has taken too much from corporations and she is losing Millennial support.

Depending who comes out of the Republican clusterfuck, I could see myself voting for Bernie over some of them (especially Huckabee, fuck that guy). I will never vote for Hillary Clinton. If she comes out from the Democrat side, I'll either be voting third-party or Republican.

[edit] Give it up with the 'Republicans will implement a theocracy!' complete bullshit. It's no different than the Republicans squawking about 'Obama is going to turn America into a Communist country!' idiocy.

Trump is comedy gold. Can't you see him telling some king or queen who wants to meet him to call Trump's secretary and schedule an appointment? Him saying female reporters are on their periods? (something that he actually did) Who needs TV?

OP forgot to mention that gay marriage passed the Supreme Court with a 5 to 4 vote, that's 1 vote difference. If Trump gets to appoint 2 or 4 SC justices, how do you think those decisions will go in the future?

He needs to pick a strong running mate. Dude is 73. Mistake McCain made with Sarah Palin.

It might make you feel super virtuous - and make you look good in the eyes of a few naive people - to not take large donations, but it's not a winning strategy.
My problem is if another Clinton gets in the White House and guts Dodd/Frank like Bill allowed Glass/Steagle to be gutted and crashes the fucking economy again. I was out of a job for 6 months damn near living on the street because of that shit.

Honestly, I don't care one way or the other.... just like I don't care if straight people get married or not.

Since I aspire to be as rich as possible, and provide for my family as best as possible, I guess Bernie is a bad choice for me. My family comes first before any others. Sorry American public who didn't work as hard as I did. Enjoy your shitty jobs.

I have this eerie feeling that Trump might actually win this.. With Hilary having to deal with the email issue and being an all around terrible person. I think people are really starting to see her for what she really is. It's unlikely she will get the nomination let alone the presidency at this point. Even though the internet and the 20-30 year old crowd loves Sanders, I doubt he will get the popular vote. The rest of the republican candidates are out of touch and there's no other real Democratic candidates entering the ring, maybe Biden?

Everything is looking down to Trump for president lol. Fuck me, the U.S. is going to have a cult of personality leader to compete with Putin. The future seems bleak.

But you aren't a millionaire or a billionaire, so you are voting against the interests of your family and your future generation.

Bernie/Trump: Fuck those trade deals lets make America great

Bush/Clinton: America can be great by being more global just trust us it is going to start working eventually

The top two people are starting to win as evidence shows every country who has made trade deals with 3rd world countries the workers of that 1st world country have been royally fucked.

The most disturbing maybe, not the most important.

These canditates wont change anything but some minor unimportant shit that will have the public go mad while they make their rich friends richer.
