On what level I can solo Black Temple?

So, I'm leveling a rogue at the moment and I'm at level 75. I really hate leveling nowadays, so I just que for dungeons and it's pretty slow.
But I'd like to take all opportunity to kill Illidan (and well, all the other bosses) for transmog items.

Anyone have an experience on lower levels?

    85 definitely, 80 most likely.

You need 85+ I would say because of first boss shield mechanics.

Level 85 is about the first time that people managed to solo Illidan. That was a decently geared DK as well, iirc.

Level 90 makes it quite trivial.

Actually a lvl 80 DK can easily solo Illidan, but... he's a rogue so... yeah, i will go with lvl 85 (at lvl 80, you could solo it, but you will need good equipment), so... just get to lvl 81 or 82 and as soon as you get full cata gear, you should be able to do it

Not prior to level 80. You need 10 level difference for the legacy buff to kick in. Without that you won't go very far.

Illidan should be level 73 though.

Black Temple is easy to solo on a level 80 rogue with herald of the titans gear (226 ilvl armor/232 ilvl weapons) it is doable without taking leeching poison talent but I'd recommend taking it so you won't ever get low on health.
Since you probably won't farm any epic gear first you can buy a full set of 232 ilvl gear from the quartermaster in Hyjal and you should be able to solo without any trouble.
Here is my rogue for reference, full run takes me around 20 minutes. (cannot post links, so just copy and paste)

Cool, so I'll try to ding level 80 fast and I'll try it. Will post here again how it went.

Yeah ... 90. Might still be tricky for a few classes at that point. Certainly doable at 80-85 for some classes and/or skilled players.

Actually, it may have become significantly easier since the squish. I know from personal experience that 90 was marginal for BT for many classes before the squish, but post-squish a lot of old content is MUCH easier because of the huge damage bonus.

Legacy buff starts at two levels above the content, for vanilla content it starts at 62, tbc at 72, wotlk at 82 and cata at 87 (MoP doesnt have legacy buff). But note that the legacy buff only starts here and it increases the more you level. I would say that if you do 1k hits normally at level 72, you will be doing 10k hits in TBC raids, and this increases with level. Given the fact that you can 10 man Black Temple these days, you won have much trouble with certain classes so high 70's (depending on class) or low 80's for solo.

On the other hand, people say that legacy kicks in at 10 levels above the mob which i dont believe as bosses are 3 levels higher than the content they are in, meaning you would need a level 83 character for legacy to kick it.

It actually seems to kick in at +1 level over the xpac the content is from, but the amount of the buff increases with each level you are above it so at only +1 it's not as much of a boost as you'll need for the most part.

It also scales with item level. If a 70 character had access to high ilvl gear, they would be able to solo BT, but I believe the max ilvl you can get at 70 is around 160+ which won't be enough. Maybe doable for a Blood DK, but definitely not for a rogue.

See it this way, OP, the higher level (and ilvl) you are, the easier and faster it will go. At 80 you shouldn't have any problems. At 75 it might be possible, depends how strong the legacy buff is and if your gear is good enough. Why don't you give it a try?

80-85 with some twink gear you'll be fine

What? You can solo cata raids at 90.

Kinda depends on your spec and your gear old boy.

As a rogue you only need to care about 2 bosses. Illidari Council and Illidan. The rest can be skipped. agro the elementals in the room after the first boss, and run to the end of the tunnel. Adjust your positioning so that eventually one of them goes through the door. Shadowstep to it. Keep them all alive, run to the next door after the second boss, repeat the method to shadowstep through it. Do this all the way until you are past Mother Sharhaz, (the door by her is the last one you need to shadowstep through). Then you can run up and go to the illidari council. One blade flurry killing spree will kill them all. Then talk to Akama and he'll open the door and you can kill Illidan.

I bet that level 80 or 85 is now soloable due to the way they squished stats and made cataclysm and earlier raids super easy.

    Symphonic,
don't describe an exploit. Thanks. And you don't need to be 80 or 85 to solo BC-Raids. 72 is high enough for most classes / specs, at 75 it is easy for everyone. Almost the same goes for Vanilla-Raids, depending on class / spec you have to be 62+ to solo the 4 raids. On my brew I did MC and BWL at 63 yesterday, even Razorgore.
