If someone gets off on pictures of lamps... does it make the lamp store website, pornographic? ... I think not. The filthy minds that find everyday occurrences erotic does not make them erotic by nature. I think the major factor that confuses people is having sex with a lamp is not illegal. But that still doesn't make the lamp erotic. (unless its a penis/vagina lamp... then maybe).

I mean a good example might be feet. Its a part of the body, generally most people just see feet as feet. Other peoples brains are wired oddly and seem to get aroused by feet. They (generally) don't have a fetish for children as objects. They fall in love with them as (little) people. It's probably pretty hard to have that happen and know that you can't ever, ever in your life, have a normal relationship with the persons you're attracted to. Tough, but that's life for them.

A child generally lacks the capacity to have a two way relationship in a sexual capacity, so yes, it is a fetish, not the same as say a gay or heterosexual couple, who are committed to one another for more than just sex, but even they aren't, being gay doesn't automatically assign that you are loving someone or wanting sex with someone incapable of making that informed consent.

Love that is nothing but a 1 way street isn't love, especially when you don't acknowledge the harm your sexual actions would have. So yeah, I reject the notion that pedophilia is either love, or anything other than a sick fetish, and whether it is genetic or someone is born that way is irrelevant, that isn't the singular threshold for why it is illegal anything else is not.

Being gay or straight has jack shit to do with love, it's about being attracted to something. Why have a discussion at all if we are going to call things by what they are not.

They aren't always about love, but even when they aren't they are still relationships where legally as long as either are old enough, they can reasonably be expected to have developed the ability to decide if they want to have sex with someone else that isn't a loving relationship. Something that can happen if you are gay, or straight, not if you are a Pedophile and want to have sex with a child.
