Television and news outlets have shown those images thousands of times already. 4chan making satire of oh so horrible content is nothing new. Their self-deprecating mascot Pedobear is an example of this, they make fun of what we cannot, because we are boring, normal people.

People still today remember the picture of the solider kissing the nurse on time square in 1945.
People still remember the Saddam statue brought down in Baghdad.
People still remember the pictures of the burning nuclear power plant in Chernobyl.
Those involved (fans and the like) still remember the pictures of Ayrton Senna crashing into the wall and his death. Or those old enough Jochen Rindt's deadly accident.
And the example's are plentiful really
