    In Finland I think most people call them spring onions.

    Apparently they're called "salad onion" in Swedish. And they're apparently not leeks :P But I'm most familiar with scallions

    They use them in salads and that's really the only place where they are a good replacement for onions.

    Awesome as a garnish on soups, particularly WonTon soup. I also love them on tacos.

    Fair enough, but biologically, a leek is not the same as these in the photo.
