It's been months since I received anything worth value, although I do know that some transmog gear sells for good value in the auction house. Is it still worth keeping this building around?

No. I just destroy them on every alt.
I recently sold a Blade of Wizardry I got from the salvage yard for around 10k. So, not totally worthless. Plus all the greens make for good vendor or DE fuel.
While it is not nearly as much as before the nerf, I can still make fairly decent gold by vendoring the stuff that comes out of the crates across 5 toons.
A guildie has gotten 2 separate Chan's Imperial Robes, which he's sold for 45k each. I was quite envious..But not quite enough to spend 45k on a Tmog item. I've gotten a couple of nice Tmog old word blues that sold for a few thousand, but nothing spectacular.
I'd say it's worth it no matter what you do in game. Even if you don't get anything rare, you still get crap to sell and mats to bank. I was going through alt bags once every few weeks, the boxes took care of most of my daily prof cds/orders and then some.
Nothing else is really worth it for alts, I never use banks on alts so storage is out. Plus I'd d/e mission gear/box blues in mass so it's a quick hop in lfg for a chant hut. It's just free money. Throw the boxes on an unused button, keybind it to like numpad 9, right click the dude at the salvage yard and spam 9 and sell/move stuff around to save time.
Blade of Hanna; I really wanted it for a while and didn't want to invest 5k or the farming time to simply buy one.
Early in the expansion I received some lv665 agility cape on my mage that I sold for around 24k, was neat.
A few low level epics. Only reason I keep it to be honest, I like to hoard them on my bank alt.
Just a tip but once everyone is out of their garrisons in legion the prices for mog items will probably go up since they've been brought down super hard by them raining all over the place. I've been saving up all the good pieces on a bank alt in preparation, especially the super low droprate ones like the ToT island and that black bow from wrath. Will be even more lucrative once the new transmog tab they're planning comes out since you know people will want to fill out a new collection
A bit of transmog gear that sells for a lot, but very rarely. An epic or two that are hilariously outdated but sell for a few thousand.
Much of what comes out goes straight to the vendor. I've got hundreds of boxes because I can't be arsed to open them for so little reward. But I still have the building, because what the fuck else am I going to put there?
Vendor trash all day every day.
Currently playing Borderlands 1 remaster. Amped for Borderlands 3.

Ok, I seriously don't know if I had Chans or not. I am seriously surprised it is worth anything at all.
I was looking over mog it several times to find a robe I could use for transmogging and Chans never even qualified as a possibility for me. Had I gotten Chans I would have probably inspected it and sold it to the vendor afterwards because it looks kinda meh-ish in my eyes.
Took me nearly 3 months just to get my DK's Heart-Lesion Runeblade. Nothing else of any value.

I've got the full transmog sets for my warlock and rogue, and I also got two Teebu's Blazing Longsword's one of which I gave to a guildy after seeing they only sell for around 5k and the other I kept for transmog.
Some of the greens can sell for a few hundred gold, most are just vendor trash though.
No, about 2-3 epics in the first month, just low level epics until now.
Last time i had anything good was about 6 months ago.
I got rid of all my salvage yards because I couldn't handle opening 100 a day anymore.
I've got like 1500 crates to open ... I'll go on a binge one of these days.
