    New gaming build

So, basically what I'm doing is building a new gaming PC; I have a good idea where I'm going with things, but in certain areas I'm still undecided about where to go with things.

    Budget: 2,500-3,000 USD
    Resolution: up to 4k capacity
Games / Settings Desired: Ability to run high end games easily with streaming and HD video streaming off to the side. Also primary media center so things like video watching as a primary capacity.
    Country: United States

Processor: Skylake i7 6700k. I was looking at the skylake since its the next gen, and know that the new CPU's are better than comparable older ones, but not entirely sure about going with the skylake i7 or one of the older ones. Going for slight overclocking so was going for the unlocked cpu. $370
Motherboard: ASRock Z17. Simple enough, looked like it fit the needs of everything else. - $240
    Memory: Corsair 16gb DDR4 3200 - $155
    Main hard drive - 480gb SSD intel 535 - $250
Case - silverstone case - looked like good air flow and I like the rotated motherboard. $180
Internet card: didn't put much thought into it, looked for one with solid reviews; can look at one of the USB ones if need the PCI slots for other stuff. $38
Sound card: creative sound blaster Z. Know its not necessary, but I enjoy sound cards and have a good sound system that can probably benefit from it

And the biggest thing I was debating about - GPU. Pretty much was looking at three options:

Asus geforce dual link SLI gx 970 - $672
    OR GTX 980 Ti - $660
    OR Geforce titan X - $1,029

With this, what I'm basically looking at is the comparison in performance. First off, between the first two, is a dual SLI gtx 970 comparable to a 980 Ti? Is one better than the other in certain areas? And what is the big performance difference between the titan X and these two that accounts for the $350 dollar difference? I know games get more advanced as time goes on so the titan X will definitely have more going forward, but with the Pascal line coming out next year I know that the long term benefits of the titan X are a bit stunted.

    Parts that can be reused:
    Seasonic 1250W PSU
2T WD HDD - primarily intend for storing video, my massive music selection, and certain games that probably wouldn't benefit much from a SSD that take up a lot of space like WoW. I know that the red is better than black for storage, but was using this one for my main HDD before and considering I'll still be using it for a good number of games don't much see the benefit of spending 100 more for the red one.

Software: Windows 10 home on dedicated USB - $120
    Bitdefender 2015 plus - $40

    Peripherals
    Black widow mechanical - $160
    Logitech G402 mouse - $56
Monitor - seemed to meet my other needs and didn't see any big complaints; $600. Going to be using my current 1080 monitor for my off one

Total with all: 2889-3229 (would put off keyboard and mouse for a while if going over budget), before shopping around and such

So any thoughts on these? Am I going with the right direction in terms of the GPU, CPU, monitors, and such? Anything that I've overlooked in going over everything?

    Changes:
    - You forgot an aftermarket CPU cooler. With your budget there is no reason to be using a stock cooler, especially if you plan to overclock
    - Asus vs Asrock simply due to preference. My experience has been nothing but positive with ASUS
    - I would stick with 2400 RAM for now. There is no reason to jump to 3200.
    - Went with a Samsung EVO vs an Intel SSD. The EVO is a solid, reliable card…
    - GPU, I think a 980TI is enough for 4K single monitor gaming. I’m assuming you plan on only gaming on one monitor because you only planned for 2 (one new and one existing)
    - I chose the Phanteks case because of recent experience. This case is freakin awesome to work in, has plenty of airflow, and is cheaper than the Silverstone. It was an absolute pleasure to work with.
    - I was able to fit 2 monitors in your budget. I would recommend against running two monitors with different native resolutions on the same GPU. I tried it and was never able to make it work.
    - I changed the Razer to a Corsair because I have the corsair and can recommend it personally. Plus it’s cheaper. My experience with Razer is nothing but trouble, but this is mostly preference.
    - I included an optical drive as well. You never know when you’ll need it, and with your budget there’s no reason not to have it.
CPU: Intel i7 3770K Mobo: Asus P8Z77-V PRO GPU: 2X Asus GTX 770 OC SLI Heatsink: Hyper 212 EVO RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x8GB 1600mhz SSD: 120Gb Samsung 840 EVO HDD: WD 2tb Caviar Black PSU: Corsair HX850 Case: CM HAF 932 Advanced

I think you spend alot on places not needed. Despite that, the problem here is that gtx980ti won't fully utilize dx12, from what we know so far. So i would look to something like fury x or just wait with gpu. I will just place the build in there mostly as a reminder.

For the keyboard/mouse, probably going to hold off on those for now and focus on the main build; main focus will be a mechanical keyboard of course, but setting that for the next paycheck.

With the graphics card, looked around a lot for the fury x and even stopped by microcenter to ask about the supply line; it's extremely backed up now. Beyond that, looking at everything I think I'm going with a g970 x1 for now and seeing if I feel like I want more power from there and then getting a dual SLI. In terms of future gaming, my intention is to get a pascal Ti when they hit the market, so am not really that concerned with running dx12 since I'm pretty certain the pascal line will be designed to cover it and dx12 isn't exactly prevalent on the market right now.

First off ,for 5bucks more, seriously get the Samsung 850, hands down. From there on gpu and monitors. If you are not going for a top end gpu then whats the point getting 2x 4k monitors. Your experience with a gtx970 or even sli will be unpleasant. Why would you get dual 4k to start with. What i would do in your case is the following. I would grab one good 1440p monitor now with a gtx980 (its worth its money compared to "ti" performance/price). Next year when new gen comes out grab the 4k with a new gpu or another 980 see how it goes with the gpus. You will use the 4k for main monitor and have your 4kexperience and the 1440p as secondary. You don't need 4k for 2ndary, well not even 1440p.

Another thing which might interest you is that the new amd cards like R9 390X got displayport 1.3, gtx900 series got 1.2.

Also trying to understand your taste in cases, i would tell you to have a look at phanteks enthoo pro or luxe and corsair 780T.

edit: The Dell monitor i linked is ips, i think its worth 50bucks more which is nothing for the total budget.
