A Holy Paladin Guide to the Endless Healer Achievement

A Holy Paladin Guide to the Endless Healer Achievement (WoD, 6.2)

To preface, this is what has worked for me. If you have a different opinion
on anything mentioned in this guide, please mention it below. It may help someone.

    Introduction

The Proving Grounds are all about creating and executing an effective strategy. Before delving into a holy paladin specific guide, it is critical you understand each mob, their abilities, and combinations. This guide will not cover that in depth. How a particular class deals with each wave will be different and certain classes will trivialize certain mobs and struggle with another.

    Recommended Talents and Glyphs:

    Speed of Light
    Fist of Justice
    Eternal Flame
    Clemency (Strongly recommend)
    Sanctified Wrath (Strongly recommend)
    Holy Prism
    Beacon of Faith

Glyph of Hand of Sacrifice (Strongly recommend)
Glyph of Merciful Wrath (Strongly recommend)
    Glyph of Flash of Light

    General Pointers:

    • Beacon of Faith is only worthwhile if you make use of it. Keep moving
it to party members who need it, including yourself.
    • Divine Shield/Blessing of Protection will drop the chomp debuff
    • Don't plan around Lay on Hands. This should be your "oh shit" CD.
    • Oto will announce his use of Shield Wall ("I am a wall of iron..."). He
typically saves this for Conquerors but he will use it when necessary. Try to prevent
his use of this ability before waves with Conquerors.
    • Aqualites*/Rippers/Conqueror=tank damage
    • Hive-Singers/Flamecallers/Tunnelers/=AoE or party damage

*Aqualites place a debuff on anyone in the party and, if it is not dispelled, can cause AoE damage.

    Important Abilities:

Your strategy should involve planning around when to use these abilities.

Avenging Wrath: a huge throughput increase on a one and a half minute CD (if glyphed).
Devotional Aura: Reduces all damage taken by 20% for 6 seconds.
Hand of Sacrifice: Reduces damage taken by 30% for 12 seconds. You have 2 charges

Keep in mind, the rest of your toolkit is quite powerful (Blessing of Protection, Lay on Hands etc.) but effective use of these three abilities will get you through to round 30.

    Your Strategy, Wave By Wave:

    Wave One:

    NO COOLDOWNS

Pretty straightforward, you'll mainly be healing Oto and any party member who gets a fireball in the face.

    Wave Two:

    AVENGING WRATH
    HAND OF SACRIFICE

This wave is much more challenging. Use your stun/interrupt on the Hive-Singer when you can,
and be prepared to heal through lots of tank damage. Make sure to dispel the magic debuff.

    Wave Three:

    NO COOLDOWN

Make sure everyone is topped off heading into this wave. Keep your second beacon on the chomp target. A few flash heals/holy lights should drop the debuff. If the chomp debuff gets too overwhelming to heal through, use Lay on Hands. Some medium heavy tank damage in this fight, but nothing too serious

    Wave Four:

    DEVOTION AURA
HAND OF SACRIFICE(if you need it)
    DIVINE PROTECTION

This is a difficult combination of mobs and you'll need to spam heal Oto throughout the entire wave, as well as keeping an eye out for other party members who may dip too low. With two magic debuffs out, always dispel melee first (Oto gets priority), then ranged (Kavan gets priority since she likes to stand in melee) and then yourself. Use Divine Protection to mitigate some damage if you have the debuff. Remember, the only AOE damage going out is from the debuff, so don't worry about healing other party members right away. Oto should be the focus.

*The goal here is to heal aggressively enough that Oto doesn't use his
Shield Wall, and he'll have it up for the next wave.*

    Wave Five:

    HAND OF SACRIFICE
    AVENGING WRATH

If you were able to prevent Oto's use of Shield Wall during wave 4, then the Conqueror becomes a walk in the park when combined with Hand of Sacrifice. Remember to wait for the Conqueror to enrage before using it. Interrupt the Hive-Singer. When damage gets overwhelming (especially with the Hive-Singer/Tunneler combo), pop wings.

    Wave Six:

    NO COOLDOWN

Focus on Oto, and heal others taking damage from the Flamecaller.

    Wave Seven

    HAND OF SACRIFICE
AVENGING WRATH (if you need it)

There two Conquerors this wave and you must have a Sac available. There is a Hive-Singer as well, so interrupt and use wings if you need to.

    Wave Eight:

    NO COOLDOWN

You will have to heal through some mildly heavy AOE damage and very little tank damage. You can afford to spend time healing the rest of your party. Keep rotating your second beacon. Do not use wings this wave because you want to have it available early on in the next wave.

    Wave Nine:

    ALL THE THINGS. OR
    AVENGING WRATH
    DEVOTION AURA

This is the last real hurdle you have. A chomp debuff will go out right away. Sooli
is typically the target, but on occasion Kavan will receive it. Immediately after the chomp debuff goes out, the Hive-Singer will cast Sonic Blast. It can be pretty quick, so I usually just pop wings and heal through the damage. Oto also takes quite a bit of damage from the Aqualites. Use Devo at your discretion. This wave can be pretty healing and mana intensive, but try to start the next wave with around 20% mana.

    Wave Ten:

    HAND OF SACRIFICE

Make sure you have Sac ready for the Conqueror's enrage and you're home free.

    Good luck!

Personally I used saved by the light. I only just off-speced and didn't want to pay too much attention to constant beacon swapping rather than learning to holy shock on cd and keep eternal flame up. Saved by light is obviously less output then faith, but I had trouble with derping up in little instants of damage rather than output.
