I'd have no problem working 8:30 to 14:30 but in my line of work a lot of issues I need to see to come up between 15:00 and 16:30, so it's not practical for me.

Actually come to think of it, this wouldn't be the case for a lot of people.

If you're able to do everything that you would do in 8hrs in a 6 hour working day and assuming you're being paid by the day and not by the hour then you'd also not be liable for a lunch. I work in IT so working lunches at my desk are a regular thing which doesn't bother me and I'm sure a lot of you are the same. The big issue however is that companies would be see their employees doing 30 hour weeks instead of 37 and thus would expect to only pay them for 30, even though the output is the same.

I think it's an interesting topic but Sweden is a special case for not being as full of greedy assholes as other countries. It's pretty funny, when you're working in England as long as you're at work no-one will judge you. You spend 2 hours at your desk looking at pictures of cats on the internet? No-one cares because you're at work. But if you spend 2 hours doing that at home you're branded as lazy.

What on earth do you do to be working 12 hours a day?

Unless it's parent, then no... You work closer to 120

    Wait, what? :P

We (Sweden) might move towards 6h work day but we still have quite a bit to go rofl!

I've no numbers but I would guess less then 40% of every jobb here in Sweden have 6h or shorter work day. Many jobbs have more then 8h, especially restaurant business.

6h dah dream but that artikle sound WAY too optimistic :P

Or increase the pressure on the employees to complete the same amount of work in less time.

Socialist Sweden does understand that someone needs to earn the money before the gouvernemt can take it away, right?
Not intierly true. Shorter days mean higher focus and motivation during those hours, instead of spreading it over 8h you squize it into 6h. More effective and better for everyone.

Most companys keep the employees salery, because they still preform the same as they did with 8h work day.

I think it's good that it's being tested more and more. We're going to have to make this change sooner or later, so some practice is good.
