    Class Hall Statues

These statues are, presumably, going to be in the finished paladin class hall to honor our fallen heroes.

... unfortunately, I think they all look really bad. What about you guys? What are your thoughts on the 'statues' that Blizzard has been using lately, the ones that are just player models with the stoneskin applied?

I do however like how Turalyion's face is looking.

Offtopic, by your sig, are you an Orc Paladin?

Are they labeled as statues? Cause they sure as hell don't look like that. Maybe they will be used in some sort of flashback while we acquire Ashbringer.

I'd like statues that were statues or just...something better, I guess. Something bigger if nothing else. They're very unimpressive for the heroes they represent.

    Nah, it's a human saying - esarus thar no'darador.

Though, it is the title of the short story in which Tirion meets Eitrigg and they become buds.

The preview screenshot for the class hall had them standing on the pedestals in poses.

Do you mean that they look awkward because they're models that are meant to move, or that statures will inherently look awkward?

Because there are plenty of statures in the game that don't look strange, but it's because they're made to be statues. They're actually textured like stone instead of just colored grey, and they're a uniform color.

lol, a new level of laziness achieved.

I would imagine those are just placeholders. They've put a lot of effort into the Class Hall, it wouldn't be right if they cut major corners by just putting a gray filter on character models and calling it a statue.

Then why even make them at all? Why take the time to make personalized player models for each of them, let alone the seemingly unique sword Turalyon uses? And why aren't the models marked as placeholders?

Honestly, I've come to expect corner-cutting from Blizzard.

My guess would be that they made them because it doesn't take long at all. The sword Turalyon uses is probably somewhere else in the game. It doesn't even fit in the character's hand and it doesn't have the same dull gray filter over it, it actually looks like it's metallic. I'm hopeful they're placeholders because it's still very early, but if that's how the statues will look once the game goes live... That's really unfortunate.

I really don't have much hope. They could have just left the altars empty and it would have been just as effective as a 'placeholder'.

Also, they've been using these lame ass statues since MoP, so I wouldn't be surprised.

Seeing as how Paladin Class Hall is the only one that will actually have statues and they've got, arguably, the best Artifact, Class Hall and ending of Artifact questline scene, it is very unlikely that they are placeholders. They were probably lazy with it because they weren't lazy with everything else so they felt like they could get away with it, which I think they can and should - no real reason to complain about statues that you'll look at for 5 seconds before ignoring them every other time you visit your class hall.

You forgot about being pruned the hardest, they can have assbringer for Ret being viable in PVP for just one expansion.

Uh. The Druid and warrior class hall both have statues. Both of them could have just been NPC models with a filter effect on them. They are not.

And please, don't tell me what I am and am not going to do. I couldn't even stand the small off-putting statues in the garrison Gladiator's Sanctum - what makes you think I'll be able to ignore 20-foot-tall ones in the heart of my class hall?

I dearly hope they change the statues before release - hell, if not I at least hope they get changed in a future patch. They look terrible compared to the statues of Turalyon in SW or Uther's at his tomb.

Personally I love the design of the Class Hall, especially the ivy on the ceilingand the illumination. Somehow it feels like you're "at peace" there - until you're staring at the statues =/
