Trump UK ban petition passes 100,000

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-35052505

A petition calling for Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump to be barred from entering UK has passed 100,000, meaning MPs will have to consider debating the issue.
I wonder how that possible debate would go

I wonder how things are going to be if and when he is elected president. Might lead to a bit of embarrassment for a few

When reading the title i thought Trump wanted to ban the UK, sadly its much less entertaining. I doubt UK politicians will get involved and theyll try to decline (discussing) the ban as quietly as possible. I guess Trump himself would love the ban though, think of all the media coverage itll give him

It would be a huge embarrassment for a LOT of people. Like 300 million Americans being called "those fucking idiots lol"... Being banned in the UK would be peanuts.

The UK has a total population of about 60 million i believe so 200k is peanuts compared to the total. And if you wish to see a petition in comparison over 1 million signed for the return of Jeremy Clarkson to Top Gear so as noble as this cause is 200k is not exactly a large following.

Let's ban Trump whilst continuing to invite (and do business with) people from such bastions of freedom as the People's Republic of China and Saudi Arabia.

Nothing hypocritical about this behaviour at all

While a massive tool, the guy doesn't have a history of violence or seem like a threat to the state or its citizenry, so petitions like this don't sit right with me.

I'm something of a free speech 'fundamentalist' (as ridiculous a statement as that is), so I think hate speech is kind of a shitty construct. Unless someone is calling for the assault or murder of specific people, I say let them spew their bile and show just what kind of people they are. The public should be given the respect to hear and dismiss them on their own.

You give the man millions of dollars in free publicity. They other candidates can't even be heard over the din.

Indeed. I would label Donald Trump ignorant or misinformed before I would call him hateful (when compared with the likes of fascists of the last century or Hamas and other groups in this one). Though he has shown a disdain for immigrants (specifically Mexicans, it seems).

I say we bring him to London and show him that the police can go wherever they like despite what he thinks. Though, he is right, to a degree, in that home-grown radicalisation is a serious issue that is not being dealt with affectively here.
