When I said banning trump from the UK would be completely ironic - and worthless - considering many would support him in any case directly in the UK... that's what I meant.

I think they've just heard of vague notions of freedom of religion and "no religious tests" and conclude based off that, in a hipster "im a liberal and pro constitution your conservative and dont know da constitution" kind of way that this would be unconstitutional.

It's attached to the free exercise of religion. It's been expanded upon to mean you can't discriminate based upon religion. I'm guessing you either had a terrible civics class, didn't have a civics class, or you're not from the US.

I know that my country has freedom of religion in its constitution. If the US is the same, then you don't really have much to argue about.

It's been argued to death. Some far right lawyers say it's constitutional. Most of the center and left say it's unconstitutional.

I may not agree with what you say but I will fight to the death to defend your right to say it.

I'm just wondering if it applies to non-US citizens abroad, and what the precedent for it is. Also they've denied entry for a belgian communist before - this begs the question of defining what religion is and is not implicitly, therefore breaking the 1st amendment. What deems religion of significantly more protection than a political ideology or nationality? I just find this Trump Muslim ban brings up some interesting issues.

Ban anyone with a beard, obviously.
Your doing it wrong, we need to ban anyone with a beard... and a slight tan. Can't half ass this plan because terrorists are honest and will totally not lie about being Muslim.

Strangely enough that seems more constitutional and feasible than Trump's plan

The country does not revolve around old white heterosexual males anymore so I suggest you get over yourself.

As an older gentleman, it seems you don't understand why most see why banning the travel of a religion to the US is retarded.

    Simple solution.

Bar the issuing of visas to nations where the predominate religion is Islamic.

It didn't work out that way:

Would you support or oppose a temporary ban on all Muslims who are citizens of foreign countries from entering the United Kingdom?

    Conservative 23% support 58% opposed
    Labour 23% support 54% opposed
    SNP 30% support 58% opposed
    Liberals 9% support 67% opposed
    UKIP 67% support 18% opposed

Conservative, Labour and SNP are all fairly similar, UKIP are pretty much where you'd expect them to be and the Lib Dems are as well.

    The geographical split:

    North 29% support 51% opposed
    South 26% support 53% opposed
    Midlands/Wales 35% support 47% opposed
    London 7% support 67% opposed
    Scotland 33% support 43% opposed

Londoners are the least likely to want a ban, by some distance, almost mirroring the Lib Dem figures. Oop North and the South are fairly similar to the Conservative/Labour/SNP figures, but those from Scotland, Wales and the Midlands are most likely to support a ban.

Londoners being more tolerant is unsurprising, we have a broader cultural mix.

The UK is infested with Muslims everywhere, same with Germanistan and Swedistan, its an epidemic. their countries are slowly being ruined.

this might actually work. I'm also for banning all brown people with a beard and ones that can speak Arabic, or Farsi, Arminian, Kurdish. they can also renounce Islam and as a death cult.

keep in mind this is just an experiment, say we consider letting some back inside the US in perhaps 2-3 years.
