Why do people time and time again keep typing "your" in place of "you're"?

You can be a revolutionary and have your entire career ruined as a result. I'm also so sick of seeing comments from your typical ghetto dweller with English as their main language in full broken English. I'm in no way a grammar Nazi. This is absolute basic English.

Yeah you kind of are. Do you understand what they mean without any additional effort to decipher it? If so then why do you honestly care?

Have you ever tried to have an argument over text whilst making these simple mistakes?

It's beacuse native speakers usually type the words in the way they are pronounced. "Your", "you're", as well as "their", "they're", "there" are pronounced almost in the same way, so for them it doesn't matter which one they type - as long as it sounds the same it's fine for them. They'll know by the context.

The problem starts when they start communicating with people for whom english is not a native language. They usually learn it with emphasis on grammar, which is more important for them than the pronounciation. So when they see misspelled word they get confused.

Usualy though it's not that big problem. However, there are people who don't care about grammar or punctuation at all, and when they communicate they create streams of words, horribly misspelled, without breaking them into sentences. Sometimes it is possible to decipher them but it resembles solving puzzles more than actually reading. In such cases I simply ignore such person or tell them it's impossible to read that (to which they usually respond aggressively, often with "I don't give a shit if you can understand it" - lol). If someone doesn't care to make their posts easier to read, by following grammar and punctuation rules, then I guess what they have to say is not worth that effort.
I have enough of EA ruining great franchises and studios, forcing DRM and Origin on their games, releasing incomplete games only to sell day-1 DLCs or spill dozens of DLCs, and then saying it, and microtransactions, is what players want, stopping players from giving EA games poor reviews, as well as deflecting complaints with cheap PR tricks.

I'm not going to buy any game by EA as long as they continue those practices.

EH that's bad. But lately if I see someone misspell a basic word, and I don't mean a typo, I mean it's like they don't know how the word is spelled, I'll just ignore their post.

Your taking this "issue" way too seriously.

Because you're education system is shit.

Because they weren't properly taught what that means. I guess as a foreigner to English language I didn't have that problem.

I have always heard that the English language is tough too learn so maybe your assuming to much about "basic English". Plus, we have alot of foreign people on here and they're native language isn't English. I could care less though.

It's easier to type. I say we get rid of apostrophes altogether, put the burden on the reader. Yeah I went there.

Easier to type. Occasionally I will make the correction, but first gut instinct when your message is more important than delivery.

Because language evolves over time and changes.

And things with ' are outdated and also anoying to type.
    Don't sweat the details!!!

It is because people often write informally in the manner in which words "sound-like" in their heads. One does not pronounce your & you're differently. In American English your and you're is often compacted so it is flatter and shorter.

Most people do not write as they speak in English.

    Pretty obvious how this happens.

Is this where I come to whine about people using i.e. when they should be using e.g.?

Can I moan about 'persay' as well?

Your and you're is not hard to differentiate. I always assume that people who makes this mistake can't create a causal relationship between anything.
