I didn't assume it was sarcastic or cryptic.

you keep talking about simming it which is a good initial idea but we have so much empirical data in logs. there is practically no need to try to determine the optimal haste if you can just take the mages that do consistently the most dps and copy what they have done. they all have practically the same gear pool available to them. the "real world" optimizes for us and each warcraftlog is just an iteration. just take those 1700-2300 haste that seem to work well until some other group of mages arises that proves us wrong by doing much more dps.

A severely flawed argument. The top 10 says nothing about the most likely outcome.

not at all. they are the top of what? 50k parses - rising. it is the best outcome - apparently.

Yes, just like the lonely 1 sample that does +100K DPS more than the average on simcraft.

you can also take the top 10 that do the top average dps consistently and see if they use different sets of haste or even if those are different people at all or take top 100 or something. there is a different category for that on proraiders which feeds off warcraftlogs. I don't think the best of all mages will be that wrong.

Garbage argument. Embarrassed I even read it, honestly.

So wait..... if you are running full haste you want to avoid the class trinket?

Sure, as long as you are in full BiS gear and so is your raid, you have about 10 other mages in the raid, and you're killing fights like Iron Reaver and Kormrok in 30 seconds, Council in 2 mins, Xhul in a min and a half, and so on - then you should probably look at those logs and use them as an example. Otherwise, how those players gear is not really relevant.

Arcane always wants the class trinket.

It's pretty annoying how much this is true this tier. Ring being so instrumental, being global, and having so much synergy with arcane really makes what's "best" depend so heavily on kill time/raid comp. Of course, kill time has always been super important, but with ring it's way more wishy washy. What's best with a 2:18 kill time might be very different than a 2:00 kill time.

Doesn't help that arcane is heavily dependent on RNG this tier either.
